Everton REJECT £45m offer from Chelsea for 21-year-old star Anthony Gordon
Chelsea have seen a formal offer for Everton youngster Anthony Gordon rejected.
It now remains to be seen whether the London club return with an improved offer for the Toffees player, who would give consideration to a switch to the capital.
Chelsea made a bid of around £45million on Monday that was turned down by Everton.
Everton have turned down a £45million bid from Chelsea for midfield star Anthony Gordon
The Merseyside club value Gordon at a minimum of £50million and will not consider offers below that mark.
The Stamford Bridge club first held talks over a move for Gordon over the weekend before tabling their bid on Monday.
Agreeing personal terms with Gordon would not be a problem for Chelsea.
Gordon has already been subject of interest from Tottenham and Newcastle but the Toffees have already been able to see off their interest this summer.
Everton though will not allow Gordon to leave for less than £50million this summer
Thomas Tuchel will now assess his options in continuing a pursuit for the midfield star
The midfielder still has three years left on his current deal but does not wish to commit beyond that.
Gordon is seen as a key player at Frank Lampard’s side but with the Blues offering Champions League football he would be keen on a move to west London.
The move could also boost his hopes of gatecrashing Gareth Southgate’s England squad for this winter’s World Cup in Qatar.
The versatile Gordon has also been used as a false nine by Everton this season and could solve Chelsea’s search for a right-sided option to compete with Reece James.
