Manchester United ‘express interest in Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo’

Manchester United are interested in a potential deal for Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo.

As reported by Sky Sports, United are long term admirers of the 20-year-old and will now hold internal discussions about whether to push ahead with an official bid.

United’s midfield is in significant need of reinforcements, and signings are certainly required at Old Trafford following a disastrous start to the season that has seen new manager Erik ten Hag lose his first two games in charge.

Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong has been heavily linked with United throughout the transfer window but a deal has yet to materialise.

Real Madrid’s Casemiro is also another potential target, although Carlo Ancelotti is eager for the Brazilian to remain at the LaLiga club. United are also interested in Juventus’ Adrien Rabiot.

Caicedo joined Brighton in February 2021 and was immediately loaned out to Belgian side Beerschot.

Although he has only made twelve appearances for Brighton so far, Caicedo has made a significant impact during that time as he has adapted quickly to the Premier League.

Caicedo has twice impressed against United, while according to The Guardian a host of other clubs are also monitoring him, including Arsenal, West Ham, Juventus, Atletico Madrid and Bayer Leverkusen.

So far this summer United have brought in Christian Eriksen, Lisandro Martinez and Tyrell Malacia. However, senior players including Cristiano Ronaldo have voiced their concerns over the club’s current situation and have called for more signings to be made.
