Cruyff Turn can turn it on at York after career-best efforts at the racecourse

Tim Easterby’s five-year-old has produced his two best career efforts when successful by narrow margins at York, beating both Brunch and Magical Morning by a head.

Those performances highlighted the selection’s will to win and he ran a blinder in the Bunbury Cup when dropping to seven furlongs last time.

Admittedly, Cruyff Turn must run off a career-high mark today of 100, but form at York can be worth a few pounds when it comes to this meeting and the reliable David Allan, who has partnered the gelding to four of his five career wins, is back on board — which can only be a positive.

The likes of Blue For You and Echo Point will be well found in the market. However, layers appear to be taking a chance with Lion Tower, who also relishes the York air and arrives in good heart following a Redcar victory earlier this month.
