Gary Neville implores Cristiano Ronaldo to speak now in ‘only’ hope to sort crisis
Gary Neville has told Cristiano Ronaldo to come out and speak up over the current predicament at Manchester United.
There have been numerous reports that the Portugal international wants to leave the club this summer after a miserable campaign in the Premier League. The Red Devils finished sixth in the table and will play in the Europa League this season, a competition that Ronaldo has little interest in.
Furthermore, there have been rumours that the 37-year-old has been acting up in training, arguing with Erik ten Hag, sitting on his own in the canteen and generally sulking around the club after being denied the chance to leave.

In an Instagram post, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner revealed that he will speak out on this summer’s antics in a wide-ranging interview when the transfer window is closed. The forward insisted that only five in 100 reports are true while speculation continues to run riot.
It adds to the current malaise around Old Trafford following a shocking start to the season, two losses to Brighton and Brentford, the latter ending 4-0. It has put massive pressure on the coach and players but Neville believes it is time that Ronaldo does something about it.
He tweeted: “Why does the greatest player of all time (in my opinion) have to wait two weeks to tell Manchester United fans the truth? Stand up now and speak. The club is in crisis and it needs leaders to lead. He’s the only one who can grab this situation by the scruff of the neck!”

Neville has been particularly critical of United this summer, taking aim at the players for not working hard enough under Ten Hag. He said: “Man Utd have proved under three different managers that they don’t work as hard as the teams they are playing.
“How long have we been saying that hard work beats talent when talent does work hard. That Man Utd team doesn’t work hard enough, they don’t run fast enough, but they are drained of all confidence.
“They are struggling badly and they have been for 12 months. They’re not being helped and maybe someone would say they don’t deserve help. I’ve been in struggling teams and you can see they’re suffering and that has to come from above.”
