Sick predator gave teenager £20 before kissing and sexually assaulting her on train

A predator creep has been jailed after launching a sex attack on a defenceless teenage girl.

The shocking incident happened on board a train to Birmingham New Street on Sunday, April 3, going from Coventry Station.

The perv in question was Elemir Bandy, 61, who approached the 17-year-old victim while she was sitting on a bench at 11.20am.

He tried to start a conversation with him, but she refused and tried to walk away, before they both boarded the same time.

Bandy continued to talk to her, and even gave her £20 to get a drink, Birmingham Live reports.

Despite her trying to get rid of him, he rubbed himself against her, and forced her to touch his crotch before kissing her on the face.

He then sexually assaulted and she was left with marks on her neck.

Two travellers on the train tried to stop the man, and asked the victim if she was ok and if he had done anything to her.

She told the onlookers what had happened and staff on the train were told about it, before it was reported to British Transport Police.

The man was arrested at Birmingham International station, on the platform.

He initially claimed that he thought she was a prostitute – which is why he gave her the cash – but later changed his story and admitted what he had done.

The man, from Stoke-on-Trent, pleaded guilty to sexual assault by penetration and three counts of sexual assault during a hearing at Birmingham Magistrates’ Court in May.

He was subsequently sentenced to 12 years in prison, with a six-year custodial term, on August 12.

He was also placed on the Sex Offenders’ Register for life, barred and disqualified from working with children and adults, and given a sexual harm prevention order for 12 years.

Detective Sergeant Mike LeConte said: “This has been an incredible case of teamwork, from the bravery of the two bystanders who intervened and offered key evidence to the dedicated work of officers who quickly secured evidence to ensure Bandy was charged and remanded the day after the incident.

“My thoughts go to the victim, her bravery in coming forward was crucial in the case and has led to this predator removed from the community.”
