Anthony Albanese agrees to DJ on stage with Fatman Scoop

Anthony Albanese has agreed to DJ on stage with Fatman Scoop after the US rapper ambushed him on morning radio.

The Prime Minister was being interviewed on B105 in Brisbane when the hosts brought the Be Faithful hitmaker, whose real name is Isaac Freeman, into the studio.

DJing is one of Mr Albanese’s hobbies and he last took the stage in a Brisbane club on the election campaign trail.

Freeman will be touring Australia with gigs in major cities in November.

‘Listen, I know you DJ,’ the rapper told the Prime Minister over the phone.

‘Now, you have millions of constituents that want to see you. I need you to come down and here’s we’re going to do: you’re going to DJ while I perform. Can you do that, sir?’

Mr Albanese replied: ‘Yeah, where are we going to do that?’ before the radio hosts insisted their pair choose his Brisbane gig on November 11.

Freeman added: ‘All you got to do is put on a cool shirt, take a shower, bring your laptop. I’m gonna show you exactly what to do.’

‘That sounds pretty good,’ Mr Albanese said, before adding: ‘I don’t know what I’m doing on the 11th of November.’

Freeman pressed him to commit, saying: ‘Sir, whatever you got to do – talk to your people, and let your people talk to my people.’

Referencing the government’s jobs and skills summit in early September, Freeman joked: ‘Show your skill, sir. Come down and be the DJ, that’s what I need from you.’

Mr Albanese agreed to exchange phone numbers so arrangements could be made.

Also in the chat, the Prime Minister joked that he had seen several amusing memes relating to the Scott Morrison ‘minister for everything’ scandal.

The former PM is under fire for secretly making himself minister for health, finance, resources, home affairs and the treasurer at the same time during the pandemic.

This is not Fatman Scoop’s first foray into Australian politics.

The rapper hit headlines in 2018 when Mr Morrison posted a video of Question Time on social media edited to include his song Be Faithful in the background.

‘I am humbled to have my voice rocking in the highest offices of the Australian Government,’ Freeman wrote online at the time.

But the video had to be taken down amid backlash over the explicit language.
