NSW Central Coast Bay Village accident: Woman dies after being struck by a bus

A woman has died after being hit by a bus in front of shoppers at a popular shopping centre on the NSW Central Coast.

On Friday about 9.30am, the woman – who is believed to have been 46-years-old – was hit and killed out the front of the Bay Village, Bateau Bay. 

Emergency services rushed to reports of the accident.

NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the woman for her injuries at the scene but she could not be revived and died on the side of the road.

The woman is yet to be formally identified.

The bus driver, a 64-year-old man, and his passengers were uninjured in the collision.

He did a roadside breath test which returned a negative result.

Police closed the road and the exit to the north side of the shopping centre while they investigated the accident earlier in the day. 

‘Officers from Tuggerah Lakes Police District established a crime scene and launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident,’ a police spokeswoman said.

Police are now working on preparing a report for the coroner.
