Female goalscorer fakes injury before twerking in celebration that ‘has to be on FIFA’

A female footballer faked an injury before cheekily twerking her bum after scoring a goal.

The hilarious incident occurred late on during the National Women’s Soccer League match between Kansas City Current and Angel City in the United States. A close game looked to have been won by the visitors after Cari Roccaro put Angel City ahead in the 78th minute.

But Kansas were handed the chance to draw level again just four minutes later when Paige Nielsen conceded a foul inside the box. Lo’eau LaBonta stepped up to take the spot-kick and duly sent the goalkeeper the wrong way, blasting her well-taken penalty into the opposite corner of the goal.

But the 29-year-old midfielder’s delight appeared to turn to anguish seconds later as she ran away clutching her hamstring with a pained expression on her face.

However, it was an elaborate ruse. Without a moment’s thought, LaBonta swapped her clutch and hobble for a shake of the bum alongside her amused team-mates.

The former Utah Royals star comfortably outperformed her xT (Expected Twerks) to the delight of the home supporters and those watching on social media. One user loved it so much they want it added to video game FIFA.

That person said: “Put this in Fifa ASAP!!” Others offered similar compliments, including one user who commented: “My kind of celebration.”

Another tweeted: “RB + Up – Up – Down – Down Code it in right now! @EASPORTSFIFA.” While someone else wrote: Best goal celebration in history.”

LaBonta’s goal secured a 1-1 draw for Kansas City, extending their unbeaten run to 11 matches. They are currently third in the NWSL, two points adrift of joint-leaders Portland Thorns and Houston Dash.

The Current take on North Carolina Courage in their next fixture a week on Monday before a trip to Gotham FC on September 11.
