Houston Astros’ Yordan Alvarez returns to team after being rushed to hospital
Houston Astros Slugger Yordan Alvarez was back with his team Saturday after being rushed to the hospital Friday night after suffering from shortness of breath.
According to Astros manager Dusty Baker said doctors did not discover a cause of the problem but the team held Alvarez out of Saturday’s game as a precaution.
‘He’s better,’ Baker said. ‘We’ve still got to watch him. He’s under what’s similar to a concussion protocol, where you’ve got to watch him. You don’t want him to maybe fall out. They couldn’t find anything, but that doesn’t mean nothing’s wrong.’

Alvarez catches fly ball against Braves an inning before leaving game due to breathing issues
Alvarez had began shortness of breath while running the bases during the fifth inning of Friday’s game and it became worse due to in-game fireworks.
He had intended on trying to tough it out until the end of the inning since there were already two outs but decided to exit the game while Atlanta shortstop Vaughn Grissom was being attended to by Braves trainers for a foot injury.
‘It’s better to know if there’s nothing wrong,’ Baker said. ‘Those doctors are great, but sometimes it’s a guess.’
Houston manager Dusty Baker said no one in the Astros’ dugout knew Alvarez was in distress
Depending how his off day full of being monitored goes Alvarez might return to the lineup Sunday according to Baker.
‘We’re just going to wait today,’ the manager added. ‘We’ll see how he is tomorrow. He’ll probably DH if he’s feeling all right.’
Alvarez is batting .295 with 31 homers and 77 RBIs for the AL West-leading Astros, who are seeking their fourth World Series appearance in six years.
