‘I bring my own avocado to cut cost eating out – people call me a cheapskate’

A woman has sparked a heated debate online after she showed a money-saving food hack when going out for breakfast at a cafe.

Milly Rose Bannister, from Australia, was called a “cheapskate” by some viewers online after posting a video to show how she saved 80% on a breakfast item.

“Does anyone do this or am i the a**hole?” she starts by asking the viewers for an opinion while taking out a bag of avocados and a knife.

“Basically the owner of this join is pretty rude and mean so I always bring my own avocado instead of paying like $6 (£3.50) for it, I saved $5 (£2.90) every time.

“And then I’ve got a spare avocado to go home with.”

She only ordered scrambled eggs and toasts from the cafe but she added the avocado on top and garnished it with salt and pepper.

Some people said they would do the same to cut cost, with one saying: “People are so pressed but this is actually genius!”

“My dad takes his own tomatoes because there is never enough in his salad,” another shared.

But many slammed her for being “mean” and said she “might as well cook at home”.

“Honestly this could be something from Extreme Cheapskate,” a viewer wrote and a second teased: “So are you like homeless or you don’t have a toaster?”

“Even the avocado is embarrassed,” a third added.

Milly justified her act and said: “I can’t cook my own eggs or I won’t eat them. Have you seen a raw egg?

“There is zero customer service or interaction here, it’s the same as sitting on a park bench. I hid if from the staff and I don’t do it at any other cafes.”
