Tyson Fury flooded with best wishes after cousin stabbed to death outside bar

Devastated fans have taken to social media to wish a grieving Tyson Fury well after he announce his cousin was tragically stabbed to death.

Fury broke the news on Instagram on Sunday morning. He told his followers how his cousin Rico Burton had been stabbed in the neck and called on the UK government to bring tougher sentencing for those convicted of knife crime. He wrote: “My cousin was murdered last night, stabbed in the neck. This is becoming ridiculous idiots carry knives.

“This needs to stop ASAP. UK government needs to bring higher sentencing for knife crime, it’s a pandemic & you don’t know how bad it is until it’s 1 of your own! Life is very precious & it can be taken away very quick enjoy every moment. RIP RICO BURTON. May the lord God grant you a good place in heaven. see you soon.”

After the upsetting announcement, fans have since flooded Fury’s social media accounts with well-wishes for him and his family. @kopites290494 tweeted: “Sorry to hear that mate πŸ™ disgusting world we live in.”

@dergermantiger said: “I am so sorry for your loss.”

Greater Manchester Police has since confirmed that Rico Burton is the man who was stabbed to death in Altrincham in the early hours of today. The 31-year-old died in hospital a short time after emergency services scrambled to the scene outside a bar on Goose Green, with a 17-year-old boy also suffering minor injuries.

A 21-year-old was arrested at the scene on suspicion of section 18 assault and is currently in custody. A murder investigation is now underway, police confirmed.
