Jared Kushner says the Mar-a-Lago raid was a ploy by Trump’s enemies who want to take him down
Jared Kushner dismissed the FBI raid on Mar-a-Lago as just another attempt by Donald Trump‘s enemies to bring him down.
Speaking for the first time since the raid two weeks ago, Kushner told Fox News‘ Mark Levin on Sunday evening that his father-in-law is a ‘fighter’ and contradicted Justice Department claims that the search was to find classified documents Trump took from the White House.
‘It is giving a lot of people who want to believe in the fairness of the judicial system and our democracy a lot of pause and concern,’ Kushner, 41, said.
Since the raid on Monday, August 8, reports emerged citing anonymous sources who claim a Trump world informant was likely the one who tipped off the FBI that the former president could still be in improper possession of official documents and materials.
Some have even speculated that the inside informant could be Kushner.
Donald Trump’s son-in-law and former senior adviser Jared Kushner told Fox News in a Sunday evening interview that the FBI raid on Mar-a-Lago was just another political attack by the former president’s enemies
This includes Trump’s niece Mary and the ex-president’s former attorney and ‘fixer’ Michael Cohen, who both suggested that Kushner could be responsible for tipping off agents to the existence of the material and where to find it.
Levin did not ask Kushner about the alleged Trump world informant in their Sunday night interview.
Trump previewed his son-in-law’s interview in a Truth Social post earlier in the day, claiming: ‘Even I am interested in this one.’
‘Much to be learned from two very smart people,’ he said of Levin and Kushner.
Besides being married to his daughter Ivanka Trump, Kushner also served as a senior adviser during the former president’s single term.
The former president’s daughter-in-law Lara, married to Eric, has also gone to bat for Trump in a handful of Fox News interviews since the raid.
Trump, Kushner told Levin, ‘drives his enemies so crazy, they always over-pursue him and make mistakes in trying to get him, and that’s basically what happened here.’
‘But what’s happening now, it’s the same thing, being done by the same people in the same way, they’re leaking to the same sources, they’re manufacturing fabulous claims that get debunked shortly thereafter,’ he added.
Kushner was on Fox News’ Life, Liberty & Levin on Sunday to promote his new book Breaking History: A White House Memoir, which hits shelves on Tuesday.
‘If you want to know what was taking place in the White House, during the Trump Presidency, I’d say this is the book for that,’ Levin said.
Levin classified the raid as a ‘despicable attack,’ and Kushner did not object to the classification.
The Presidential Record Act requires that office holders do not remove any materials or documents from the White House when their tenure expires.
Trump, however, claims that he was cooperating with authorities after he turned over 15 boxes of presidential materials from his Florida home to the National Archives in February.
He also insists that the FBI took attorney-client and executive privilege materials.
Police direct traffic outside Mar-a-Lago on Monday August, 8 after protesters showed up in the wake of Trump revealing the FBI was conducting a raid on his Palm Beach estate
During the raid, Trump was in New York for a deposition with the New York Attorney General’s office in an unrelated case regarding his family’s real estate business the Trump Organization
The Biden administration maintains the president was unaware of the raid before it happened – and learned about it in the news just like the rest of America.
Attorney General Merrick Garland affirmed the Thursday after the raid that he personally approved the Justice Department request for a warrant to search Trump’s Palm Beach estate.
Other than Kushner, other sources claim that Trump’s former acting Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney could be one of the ‘six to eight people’ in Trump’s inner circle to tip off the FBI and DOJ.
Mulvaney argues he was unaware of the safe that FBI agents accessed to find documents they seized from Trump’s home.
