Wife of retired police captain who was murdered in 2020 riots slams BLM for ‘dividing America’
The wife of a retired St. Louis police captain who was murdered in 2020 during a night of violence and looting sparked by racial injustice protests has slammed soft on crime policies and BLM tactics for ‘dividing America’.
Ann Dorn singled out billionaire George Soros for using his power and influence to ‘promote extremist politics’ and woke corporations for ‘blindly funding’ the left-wing organization Black Lives Matter, which is dedicated to defunding the police.
Ann’s husband David Dorn, 77, was shot dead by looter Stephan Cannon, 26, in front of his friend’s pawn shop during the 2020 riots which had begun as protests against the killing of George Floyd by Minneapolis police.
She told Fox News that David was murdered because police officers, who were supposed to protect the streets of St. Louis during the protests, ‘were ordered not to do their jobs’.
Ann, who described her husband as a ‘superhero’, singled out Soros, the CEOs of woke corporations and Vice President Kamala Harris as the ‘supervillains’ because they have raised money for the rioters’ bail funds and ‘blindly’ given support to the BLM movement.
She accused them of supporting a movement which has the aim of ‘demeaning, demoralizing and defunding’ police officers across the country.
Soros, for instance, supplied $3million in 2020 alone to a dark-money’ group supporting left-wing organizations such as BLM while VP Harris promoted a bail fund that has helped free suspects who have gone on to commit more crimes.
Ann, a retired police sergeant with over 20 years of service, said that David did not agree or support BLM because ‘it never actually did anything to help black lives’.

Stephan Cannon, 26, of Glasgow Village, was found guilty of first-degree murder in the death of Dorn, 77, who was shot when he investigated alarms going off at a friend’s pawn shop
She told Fox News: ‘The same year David was killed, over a dozen children were shot in St. Louis, and never once did Black Lives Matter show up. Their lives mattered.
‘Fifty-five businesses were looted or destroyed the night David was murdered, many of them Black-owned. Their livelihoods mattered. My husband was a Black man who selflessly served his community for over 40 years. His life mattered.’
She added that it is key for woke corporations to realize that by funding the BLM movement, they are ‘hurting our country’.
Ann added: ‘It is clear that the anti-law enforcement sentiment that has been fueled in this country by Democrat and left-wing activist rhetoric has gone too far.
‘Yes, there are bad cops out there, but addressing bad policing by ordering no policing at all is not a solution. It is extremist, it is dangerous, and it cost my husband his life.’
Ann is working with Concerned Communities of America – a group involving influential black clergy and leaders which is pushing back against woke corporations and individuals who funding deadly BLM riots.
Black Lives Matter and other influential organizations are seeking to shrink police department budgets and reallocate resources to mental health professional and social workers, housing and education.
The ‘defund the police’ movement took root after the murder of George Floyd, a black man, by a white Minneapolis police officer in May 2020.

Police investigate the scene of a shooting at Lee’s Pawn & Jewelry in St. Louis on June 2, 2020, after Dorn was found shot dead

It was during the 2020 riots over Floyd’s death that David was killed.
Last month, Cannon, 26, of Glasgow Village was found guilty of first-degree murder for the death of David, who was shot when he investigated alarms going off at a friend’s pawn shop in St. Louis.
Cannon was also found guilty of first-degree robbery, first-degree burglary and three counts of armed criminal action. He faces a mandatory term of life in prison without parole when he is sentenced September 13.
Dorn was killed on June 2, 2020, when he approached Lee’s Pawn & Jewelry in north St. Louis and fired off warning shots to stop looters who were ransacking the business.
Cannon shot Dorn 10 times and the retired police officer’s body was found on a the sidewalk in front of the pawn shop. His death was initially streamed on Facebook Live, but footage has since been deleted.
The St. Louis Police Department released surveillance footage taken inside the store shortly after 2.30am, in which seven persons of interests are seen entering through the pawn shop’s front door
The St. Louis PD posted the video on Twitter, where they also stated they were offering a reward for those who had information on the men
The store looks to have already been completely ransacked by the time the group arrived on the scene, with windows shattered, display cabinets emptied and trash discarded on the floor.
His murder drew attention nationwide because it occurred amid protests across the country in response to the killing of Floyd by Minneapolis police.
Across St. Louis that night, David and four officers were shot, officers were pelted with rocks and fireworks, and 55 businesses were burglarized or damaged.
David retired from St. Louis police in 2007 after 38 years and also served for six years as police chief in Moline Acres, a small town north of St. Louis.
His wife Ann singled out Soros, woke corporations and VP Harris for funding the BLM movement which had organized the 2020 protests.
Soros funneled a total of $3million in 2020 to the Community Resource Hub for Safety and Accountability (CRH) via the New Venture Fund, which critics argue is a ‘dark money organization’ that allows left-wing donors to anonymously pour money into political causes.
The funding of CRH fits neatly into Soros’ years-long crusade to transform the criminal justice system, which has seen him pour tens of millions of dollars to help elect progressive district attorneys in cities like Philadelphia, Los Angeles and Chicago.
CRH states that it houses and staffs the group Defund The Police, which describes itself as ‘a one-stop shop information source for campaign to defund police,’ Fox News reported.
Critics of Soros have accused him of being responsible for skyrocketing crime rates in cities around the US, claiming that under the Soros-backed Democratic prosecutors, criminals have been allowed to walk out of jail without bonds and, in many cases, commit new crimes.

Protesters and Portland police clash while dispersing a crowd gathered in front of the Portland Police Bureau North Precinct early in the morning on August 22, 2020 in Portland, Oregon, amid BLM Protests
Since 2015, the deep-pocketed philanthropist spent $28million on district attorneys’ races in dozens of cities, including $2million that went to a PAC that backed Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx in her successful re-election campaign in 2020.
A year later, Chicago, where Foxx is the top prosecutor, has the highest murder rate in 30 years.
Soros has also donated to PACs that support Los Angeles District Attorney George Gascón, who has been widely panned for failing to crack down on organized smash-and-grab shoplifters that have been terrorizing local businesses.
Soros has also poured funds into the campaign of Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner, who ran on a criminal justice reform platform and has been slammed by his opponents as being soft on crime.
Meanwhile, VP Harris has been criticized after a bail fund she backed helped release an alleged Minneapolis domestic abuser who was then later arrested and charged with murder.
George Howard, 48, was bailed out by the Minnesota Freedom Fund (MFF) on August 6 last year after being held on a $11,500 on charges of domestic abuse.
Weeks later, Howard was charged with murder when he shot another driver on I-94 during a road rage incident on August 29 2021.
The victim has been identified as 38-year-old Luis Damian Martinez Ortiz who was pronounced dead after he was shot in the chest by Howard.

The fund was backed by Vice President Kamala Harris during her 2020 campaign
MFF’s work- which helped free Howard to allegedly kill – was promoted by Harris during her campaign in 2020.
‘If you’re able to, chip in now to the @MNFreedomFund to help post bail for those protesting on the ground in Minnesota,’ Harris tweeted.
The MFF strives to support communities of different races, ethnicities and economic backgrounds.
The Minnesota-based organization pays for criminal and immigration bonds for minority communities that have been affected by the state’s justice system.
In 2020, MFF received $35 million in donations to release activists that were jailed during the George Floyd protests.
The fund has received criticism however as they have spent thousands of dollars freeing people who have been accused of committing serious crimes, such as Howard, according to Fox 9.
