Adam Peaty’s brother insists his split has nothing to do with the Strictly curse
Love split swimmer Adam Peaty is coping with his shock breakup by doing DIY – but it has nothing to do with the so-called curse of Strictly, his brother has insisted.
The Olympian is keeping busy renovating his home with the help of his big brother James Peaty, who is also his ‘support network.’
Builder James, 31, told MailOnline today he is aware of the ‘reasons for the split’ – which his thousands of fans would want to know – but was not in a position to share that.
But James from Uttoxeter, Staffordshire, was adamant it was not caused by his appearance on the popular BBC dance show, saying: ‘He was in it over a year ago. It has nothing to do with Strictly.’
The sportsman, 27, had apologised for ‘letting down’ his partner of three years Eirianedd Munro, 23 – known as Eiri – and their 23-month-old son George.
The Olympic swimmer and former Strictly contestant, 27, took to Instagram on Tuesday to share the sad news, adding that the couple had decided to go ‘their separate ways’ but that their son George, who is two next month, remained their ‘priority’.

Announcing the news via social media, Adam wrote: ‘Eiri and George, I’m sorry for letting you down. My only interest is for the well-being of our family at this difficult time.’
Brother James told how the split up was ‘amicable’ and there were ‘no hard feelings or nothing else.’
He admitted: ‘I was surprised that it happened but sensed it was coming.
‘But Adam’s doing OK. It’s his Gladiator mindset.
‘A lot of people will wonder why it’s happened, he has a lot of followers.
‘I’m close to my brother, I’m with him every day, and he confides in me. I’m his support network.”
Adam danced with Katya Jones on Strictly last year, and raised eyebrows with their chemistry
News: Adam Peaty wrote in the caption: ‘Eiri and I have decided to go our separate ways. We have enjoyed a wonderful three years together’ (pictured at Wimbledon in July this year)
‘I’m working with him now, helping renovate his home. It’s taken a year so far.’
He declined to say if the parted couple were still living together in the same house, but revealed they would be co-parenting their toddler son.
He said: ‘Co-parenting is popular nowadays, that’s the way it is.’
The Strictly Curse refers to the trend of contestants whose relationships have broken down in the wake of their appearance on the popular BBC dance show.
Adam is the latest in a long line of celebrities whose relationships ended during or after the dance show, where stars spend hours training with their professional partners before taking to the stage for steamy and intimate performances.
In the wake of the news breaking, Eirianedd also shared a statement to her Instagram Story, which read: ‘The last three years have been so, so amazing.
‘Our little family has experienced so much laughter and love and joy. You guys have been such a significant part of that!
‘This next chapter of my life is surely going to be an incredibly difficult one. I would appreciate that people would refrain from commenting, speculating or messaging.

Nope! When Adam Peaty reached out to take George from his partner over the ledge, she could be seen shaking her head, and eventually she made her way back into the crowd
‘I have shared so much of my life, but for now I’m choosing privacy and I hope that you will all respect that.
‘I love and appreciate you all so much and I’m so thankful for all the fun and opportunities you’ve given me.
‘I am going to be taking a break from social media, so goodbye for now. Thank you so much for everything.’
The split comes just weeks after Eirianedd awkwardly refused to pass him their son while congratulating him at the Commonwealth Games, after he won gold in the 50m breaststroke.
After the swimmer was awarded his medal, cameras saw him heading to the stands where his then-girlfriend was tearfully watching with their son.
