Carabao Cup third round draw in full as Man City face Chelsea in crunch tie

Manchester City will host Chelsea in the standout tie of the Carabao Cup third round draw.

The Premier League’s big six would all have been hoping to avoid each other in the draw, which was conducted live on Sky Sports after Newcastle United overcame Tranmere Rovers at Prenton Park. But among a clutch of ties between top-flight teams, City vs Chelsea stands out as the undoubted tie of the round.

Elsewhere, Manchester United have been handed an all-Premier League tie against Steven Gerrard’s Aston Villa, while current league leaders Arsenal welcome Graham Potter’s Brighton & Hove Albion to the Emirates Stadium.

Elsewhere, Tottenham face a tricky trip to the City Ground to take on Nottingham Forest, and cup holders Liverpool host League One Derby County. Other standout ties include Newcastle vs Crystal Palace and Wolves vs Leeds.

Manchester City, Liverpool, Manchester United, Chelsea, Tottenham and Arsenal all enter at this stage of the competition owing to their European commitments. West Ham will also play their first match in this season’s tournament in the next round after qualifying for the Europa Conference League last season. They take on Blackburn Rovers at the London Stadium.
