Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang ‘leaving today’ if Chelsea agree to Barcelona’s counter offer

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang could “leave today” if Chelsea agree to match Barcelona’s latest counter offer.

The former Arsenal forward is Chelsea’s first-choice target as they look to sign a new striker and bolster their attacking options before the transfer window closes next week. It is understood that personal terms have never been an issue in completing the deal, since Chelsea’s interest was first reported at the start of August.

However, the move has been held up by the two clubs being unable to agree on a fee for the sale of Aubameyang, with Barcelona now naming their price for the Gabon striker.

According to Gerard Romero, Barca have asked Chelsea to pay an initial fee of £21million for the 33-year-old, followed by a further £2.5million in add-ons.

If the Premier League side agree to pay the requested price, then it is said that Aubameyang will be granted permission to leave Barcelona today.

His departure from the Camp Nou is also understood to be holding up the registration of defender Jules Kounde, who joined the club from Sevilla earlier this summer.

Aubameyang, who only joined Barcelona in January, has played just eight minutes so far this season and was an unused substitute for Sunday’s win over Real Sociedad.
