Erik ten Hag preparing for another Man Utd exit to make room for Antony in squad

Manchester United may let Anthony Elanga leave on loan if they sign Antony – with a fellow Premier League club reportedly interested in the move.

The Red Devils are yet to add any firepower to their attack in the summer transfer window but are trying to get a deal over the line for Ajax winger Antony before next week’s Transfer Deadline Day.

Personal terms have been agreed with the 22-year-old, whose agents have begun house hunting for him in Cheshire. Should the two clubs settle on a fee, which is believed to be around the £80m mark, then Erik ten Hag could be willing to ship Elanga out for the season.

That’s according to the Daily Mail, who claim Everton are lining up him as late addition. The Toffees also like the look of United midfielder James Garner, so he could be the one to move to Goodison Park instead.

Elanga impressed in a breakthrough year last season and was given a start by Ten Hag against Liverpool on Monday (August 22). But despite tearing Trent Alexander-Arnold apart and setting up Jadon Sancho’s opener, the 20-year-old was hooked at half-time in a tactical change for Anthony Martial.

Would it be a mistake to let Elanga leave? Let us know in the comments section.

Ajax winger Antony is edging closer to Old Trafford, which could see Antony Elanga leave on loan

Antony joining the likes of Marcus Rashford and Amad Diallo in the forward ranks means Elanga’s game time could be fairly limited, leaving a loan looking like a good option.

United would almost certainly not entertain the idea of his permanent exit, with the Sweden international tied down at Old Trafford until 2026.

As well as Antony, United chiefs are still busy looking at back-up goalkeeper options. The report states their interest in Frankfurt’s Kevin Trapp has cooled, with Newcastle’s Martin Dubravka once again under consideration.
