Man tries to stab a cop with a PEN after being arrested for attempting to kidnap a kindergartener
An Ohio man tried to stab a police officer with a pen after he was arrested for attempting to kidnap a kindergarten student.
Reid Duran, 35, of Fairborn – near Dayton – told officers he ‘intended to give his victim candy laced with tranquilizers,’ but was unsuccessful.
Duran had attended an open house at St. Brigid School around 6pm on Monday when he started claiming he was a parent of one of the female kindergarten students – whose real father was in attendance.
Principal Terry Adkins soon realized Duran was acting in an ‘odd manner’ and escorted him out of the building and called the police.
When the dispatcher asked Adkins how he knew the child, five, didn’t belong to Duran, he replied: ‘We have nobody here by that name. He gave us a different name, and now, he’s changing names.
‘And the parent who he was questioning about that daughter is starting to get irate, which I don’t blame him.’
Duran allegedly told police multiple stories about why he was at the school until he finally admitted he was there to kidnap a student, court documents, viewed by Fox 19, said.
After being arrested, he was taken to the Xenia Police Department’s station for questions, where he is seen on surveillance footage sitting uncomfortably at a desk with an officer in the room.

Duran was taken to the Xenia Police Department after he attempted to steal a child from St. Brigid School around 6pm on Monday when he attended an open house and said he was a parent
After he was question and sitting in the interrogation room, he took a pen off the table and attempted to stab an officer with it and escape
He failed to harm the officer, who then pushed him to the ground and handcuffed him
Duran was restrained and is now currently sitting in jail without bail
Duran sat stiffly in the chair, swaying back and forth with his hands in his lap as they wait for investigators. Eventually, the allegedly kidnapper moves his left hand onto the table, closest the pen.
Duran picks up the writing utensil, pulling it toward the edge of the table where he examines the end of it outside of sight of the officer.
Seconds later, he swings his arm like he’s pitching a baseball before standing up and putting the full force of his weight into the pen.
He misses the officer, who grabs his wrist and pushed him to the floor, while he calmly requests backup.
The officer, who was not named, doesn’t let Duran get off the floor, turning him around to handcuff him as he straddles the other man’s legs.
‘Your hands behind your back now,’ he tells Duran.
‘Ok, no worries,’ the attacker said through heavy breaths.
‘Are you f**king kidding me, right now?’ the cop asked Duran. ‘Put your hands behind your f**king back, now. You f**king stabbed me, really? What a f**king d**k.’

Two other law enforcement agents entered the room and asked the cop where the pen was located before telling him to ‘get him off his chest.’
They placed Duran back into the rolling chair with handcuffs on.
During his interview with police, he told police he was at the school ‘attempting to find a small child to obtain sexual favors,’ court document reportedly said.
He also claimed to have performed a similar incident in another city and told police he preferred children between the ages of five and 13.

While at the school, he reportedly saw a class photo of the kindergarten class by the room door and ‘started planning on removing the child from the school and wanted to perform sexual acts on the child,’ documents reportedly said.
Duran allegedly planned on removing the little girl from the school after feeding her a Starburst-like tranquilizer candy and waiting until she passed out to take her.
The alleged kidnapper also admitted to having child pornography on his computer.
Duran has been charged with attempted kidnapping, escape, and felony assault.
He is scheduled to appear at Xenia Municipal Court on August 29 at 9am. He is currently being held without bail.
