Meghan Markle given Spotify podcast warning after ‘saying I 200 times’ in first episode

Meghan Markle has reportedly been issued a warning ahead of the release of her second podcast episode – which will feature Mariah Carey – after claiming the ex-royal focused on herself too much in her first release.

After months of anticipation, the Duchess of Sussex released her first podcast episode last week (August 23).

Featuring an interview with tennis superstar Serena Williams, Meghan suggested that she hoped to address the double standards faced by “ambitious women”.

But, after the debut episode reached number one on the worldwide charts, royal commentator Kinsey Schofield has claimed that the former actress may need to improve her interview style ahead of her next episode, which features Mariah Carey.

“I highly doubt Mariah will give her as much time to talk about herself as her friend Serena Williams did,” Kinsey told GB News.

“These are two huge names, obviously she’s going to use these names to elevate herself and elevate her brand.”

But Kinsey joined other experts who suggested that Meghan had not grasped the opportunity to promote her worthy cause, with one calculating that the Duchess spoke “1.5 times more” than Serena in the series opener.

She continued: “If the entire podcast is about how women are supposed to overcome stereotypes, I want to know how Serena Williams overcame stereotypes.

“She’s an incredible athlete, one of the greatest the world has ever seen. What struggles did she face and how did she overcome them?

“This is a great opportunity for Meghan to really make a name for herself and be a face of the feminist movement.”

But, on the evidence of her first release, Kinsey warned listeners that the alleged focus on the former royal instead of her guest may not change notably in the second episode.

“She said the word ‘I’ over 200 times in this 50-something minute podcast, so obviously she wants the focus to be on Meghan,” she claimed.

This comes after Kinsey also told the Daily Star that Meghan Markle wanted to use her acting career to resemble Princess Diana. The royal commentator suggested that Meghan would be using her status to “do good”.
