Casemiro set to face salary cut like Cristiano Ronaldo if Man Utd fail objective
Manchester United midfielder Casemiro would see a similar wage decrease to Cristiano Ronaldo if the Red Devils fail to qualify for the Champions League.
The Brazilian midfield enforcer was lured to Erik ten Hag’s side from Real Madrid at the tail end of the summer transfer window. Various add-ons could see the fee United pay to Carlo Ancelotti’s side rise to an enormous £70m, making him one of the club’s most expensive signings ever.
Casemiro is believed to have put pen to paper on a four year deal believed to be worth around £375,000 per-week. However, this eye watering salary could be slashed if United do not meet certain goals.

According to the Athletic, Casemiro’s wages could be slashed if United fail to reach the top four. This would then mean he is earning the same salary as he was when he was at the Bernabeu.
This would not be an unusual move if United do fail to finish in the top four or gain Champions League qualification by winning the Europa League. Ronaldo’s wages significantly decreased after United’s disastrous campaign last season.
Reports from the Manchester Evening News claim the Portuguese’s salary was slashed by around 25% at the end of last season. This reportedly reduced his weekly salary of around £480,000 to approximately £360,000.

However, Casemiro, Ronaldo, and the rest of their teammates are not the only figures who would see a huge chunk of their pay packet disappear. Various reports understand United’s sponsorship revenue would take a huge hit if they do not reach the Champions League.
United’s lucrative 10-year sponsorship agreement with Adidas, purported to be worth around £750m, would reportedly shrink by 30% if they failed to reach Europe’s elite competition. This equates to a decrease of around £22.5m
All parties will need to hope Ten Hag can bottle the momentum and good form they find themselves in, despite their frustrating 1-0 home defeat to Real Sociedad in the Europa League.
