The majority of floating voters DISAGREE with Biden’s claim Trump represents a threat to democracy
A majority of voters unaffiliated with one of the two majority parties are against President Joe Biden‘s statements claiming Trump voters are a ‘threat to democracy.’
Likely voters who are not registered with Democrats or Republicans – a key voting bloc that could determine the outcome of the 2022 midterms – think it’s time for Biden to move past blaming MAGA for woes facing the country.
Fifty-eight percent of overall likely voters want ‘Joe Biden should quit blaming ‘MAGA Republicans’ and get to working on the economy he ruined’, according to a Rasmussen Reports poll released Monday.
The figure drops just 2 points to 55 percent when unaffiliated voters’ responses are considered.
The poll comes in the months following record-high inflation and gas prices as well as a traditionally defined recession with two straight months of negative Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth.
The Consumer Price Index for last month released on Tuesday shows an 8.3 percent inflation spike in August.
Voters who not affiliated with Democrats or Republicans are more likely than not to disagree with President Joe Biden’s statement that Trump supporters are a ‘threat to democracy’
Americans are increasingly showing they want Washington, D.C. to focus on the economy rather than bickering on other social issues two months before the 2022 midterm elections.
‘Donald Trump and the MAGA Republicans represent an extremism that threatens the very foundations of our republic,’ President Biden said during an address to the nation on September 1, 2022.
When asked whether they agree with this statement, 53 percent of unaffiliated voters say they do not – including 40 percent of these respondents who say they strongly disagree with the sentiment.
Twelve percent of those polled say they agree with the president’s thoughts on Trump supporters, while 28 percent say they only ‘somewhat agree’ with the statement.
Another 7 percent say they aren’t sure about their feelings on that aspect of Biden’s speech.
A whopping 83 percent of Republicans say they agree that Biden needs to move past blaming MAGA Republicans and focus on economic recovery.
Surprisingly, more than one-third – 35 percent – of Democrats also agree. But 60 percent of Democrats still disagree with the statement.
The poll questioned 1,000 likely voters on September 6 and 7 and has a margin of error of plus or minus 3 percentage points.
