Bizarre theory that Meghan Markle is a political gambit to allow the UK to reabsorb US
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been at the centre of many theories – but some have claimed their relationship is part of bizarre plan to allow the UK reabsorb US.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex married in a star-studded ceremony at Windsor Castle in 2018 are now parents to three-year-old Archie and one-year-old Lilibet.
But before the couple had even tied the knot, a wild conspiracy theory about their relationship started doing the rounds online – with some American’s claiming it was all a rouse for the UK to regain control of the US.

Twitter user Greg Pollowitz first shared the idea in November 2017, saying: “What if one grows up to be president and is in line for the throne at the same time? Brits are playing long-ball here, but it’s a smart move. They want America back and this is how they’ll do it.”
Others were quick to respond, with one person spinning Donald Trump’s infamous slogan, saying: “Make America Great Britain Again”.
Another said: “This is the most credible-post Brexit strategy for the UK that I’ve heard so far.”
America of course famously declared independence from Britain in 1776 and went on to have a pretty successful time of it on their own.
Since the theory was first shared, Harry and Meghan have sensationally quit as working members of the Royal Family in favour of a life overseas in California and its unlikely either of their children will ascend the throne. Now Prince William is first in line to the throne, Harry is fifth with his children following behind in sixth and seventh.
However, it has been reported that Meghan Markle could have her sights set on the White House, with talk of her ambition to become America’s first woman president dating back to a “secret” meeting with Hillary Clinton at Frogmore Cottage in 2019.
Meghan Markle has been subject to some odd conspiracy theories over the years.
Earlier this week, some royal fans were adamant that the Duchess was a spy because of a strange shape in her dress.
The strange comments stem from an image of the wife of Prince Harry taken during the walkabout outside Windsor Castle at the weekend, where she met hundreds of mourners paying tribute to Her Majesty The Queen.
The innocuous appearance, which she has been roundly praised for, has been scrutinised more than most royal appearances. And during that scrutiny, a new conspiracy theory was formed.
While pregnant with the couple’s first son Archie, some claimed that Meghan was faking her pregnancy.
