Sydney road rage: Ute brake-checks and gets slammed into from trailing vehicle

A cranky ute driver who repeatedly tapped his brakes got more than he bargained for when the following car went up the back of him.

Footage of the aggressive incident emerged on the Dash Cam Owners Australia Facebook page on Thursday.

The accident occurred on the Tom Uglys bridge in Sydney‘s Sutherland Shire close to sunset one evening earlier this year.

A ute driver (pictured, driving along Princes Highway in Sydney’s Sutherland Shire region in May) is seen suddenly moving into the right lane without using their indicator

In the video, a vehicle with a dashcam mounted at the front is seen driving in the right-hand lane.

A ute in the middle lane suddenly cuts the vehicle off, leading the driver to flash his lights.

The ute then suddenly brake-checks twice in a matter of seconds, with the trailing vehicle narrowly avoiding contact.

However, as both vehicles head onto the bridge, the ute can be seen speeding up before coming to a complete stop in the middle of the road.

The driver behind then speeds up and collides into the back of the ute – before the driver is heard shouting ‘f***’.

The trailing vehicle with the dashcam immediately flashes its lights, causing the ute driver in front to brake-check multiple times (pictured)

As both drivers enter Tom Uglys bridge, the ute is seen quickly speeding off then slamming on the brakes in the middle of the road. The vehicle behind speeds up and slam into the back of the ute (pictured)

The two vehicles then continue along the bridge until the ute stops, with the driver switching on his hazard lights.

An argument than ensues.

After pulling over, the two men are seen getting out to assess the damage before getting into an argument (pictured)

This video sparked controversy online, with many pointing the blame towards the driver of the ute.

One commentator said: ‘Tradie boy in the ute needs to use his indicators when changing lanes. He also needs to realise the road isn’t his personal race track.

‘Dashcam driver pays the penalty for also being a racer boy… Both get to enjoy paying their insurance premium.’

Another commented: ‘Dashcam driver wasn’t speeding at all, didn’t break a single road rule. Ute in front will be deemed at fault 100 per cent.’

‘Negligent driving, changing lanes no indicator, driving dangerously, guy in fronts fault,’ a third said.

Someone else added: ‘If the driver of the dash cam footage didn’t flash the ute driver, then I don’t think he would have brake-checked him and the accident would have been avoided.

‘High beams are only for when there is no other cars around and should be turned off 200 metres of an approaching vehicle. So both are in the wrong but more so the ute driver,’ they added.
