Royals fans fume that first snap of King Charles with monarch’s red box is ‘staged’
Royal fans have voiced their displeasure that the first picture of King Charles working from the monarch’s red box appears to have been ‘staged’.
King Charles has only been on the throne just over a fortnight following the sad passing of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, on September 8 earlier this month, with much of his duties since revolving around her state funeral as the nation joined together in mourning for the beloved monarch.
Despite still grieving, Charles has managed to find time in his busy and hectic schedule to carry out some paperwork, though Royalists are sceptical of its authenticity.

In a post shared on Twitter, released by PA, Charles can be seen in the Eighteenth Century Room at Buckingham Palace, said to have been taken last week. In it there is a picture of the Queen with his father, the late Prince Philip, in the background, while Charles looks to be sorting through red boxes of various government and palace documents.
The iconic box tends to contain important papers from government ministers and Commonwealth representatives and can often require a signature.
However, one Twitter user was quick to pour scorn on the image, commenting: “The acting. The props. These staged photos are always hysterical to me.”
Another replied: “Yes…screen play…and go…sadly reach out and touch box, look forlorn…Nailed it!!! Meanwhile in his first speech he said he was grieving, camera panned to Camilla who rolled her eyes.”
Others were equally as critical, as one user said sarcastically: “Because papers always fall gracefully into position like that after a box [has] opened.”
Charles was defended by some users, with one passionately declaring: “He’s not acting – this is another duty he has had to take on & he’ll do this for 363 days a year for the rest of his reign.
“As for ‘staged’ – there’s usually a degree of ‘staged’ in most photographs particularly of this nature because they’re ‘photographs’ not moving images!!!”
While Charles has been pronounced as King, he is yet to have his official coronation, which could take place on a special anniversary for the Royal Family.
Expected to be held in May or June next year, Charles could yet be crowned on the same day 70 years later that his mother was on June 2, 1953.
