Pitch invader storms the field at the NRL grand final
The 2022 NRL season has been littered with pitch invasions and the grand final was marred by another interruption on Sunday as one fan tried to damage the goalposts at Accor Stadium.
With Parramatta putting up a helpless performance on the pitch, a fan stormed the field during the second half and attempt to remove the padding from the sticks.
He was successful with the first post but couldn’t get a good grip on the second with security fast approaching. The pitch invader then ran towards the centre of the pitch before being hauled down by stewards.
The man – whose t-shirt read ‘for our kids’ on the back – was swiftly removed from the venue, as Brad Arthur’s side continued to receive an absolute battering in Sydney.
Penrith broke the deadlock early and haven’t looked back, with Stephen Crichton, Brian To’o, Scott Sorensen and Charlie Staines scoring unanswered tries.
