Erling Haaland even has Pep Guardiola in disbelief as he laughs at latest goal fest

Erling Haaland’s record-breaking form in front of goal at Manchester City had Pep Guardiola rubbing his hands in anticipation while chuckling at his latest Champions League return.

The Norwegian sensation needed only seven minutes to open his account for the evening against Copenhagen on Wednesday evening (October 5) slamming home with his right foot before grabbing an opportunistic second.

Following that tap-in, which would be his final goal of the evening having been taking off for a rest at half-time, Guardiola’s gesture to the Etihad faithful was a telling one.

The Spaniard pointed over his shoulder while looking into the crowd with pure disbelief, then rubbing his hands together before clapping his new star striker.

City ran out 5-0 winners against the Danish champions thanks to an own goal from Davit Khocholava, a penalty from Riyad Mahrez and a tap in for Julian Alvarez.

They now sit top of Group G following three consecutive victories, three points above Dortmund and eight above both Sevilla and Copenhagen.

Haaland, 22, has now scored 19 goals across his first 11 games in all competitions, netting 14 goals in eight Premier League outings and five in three Champions League appearances.

Haaland’s form has somehow improved since leaving Borussia Dortmund for just £51.2million in the summer having scored 86 goals across 89 games in Germany.

Having picked up the Premier League Player of the Month for August, Haaland has also scored three hat-tricks across his first eight games in the competition.

That broke Michael Owen’s record of fastest time to get to three hat-tricks by a full 40 fixtures, with Guardiola running out of superlatives.

“At his age no one can compete with him,” Guardiola said before the game.

“The numbers speak for themselves and inside, in the locker room, and on the pitch we see things that are not in the stats that make us feel happy to have him here.”
