West Brom fans ‘apologise’ to Newcastle over Steve Bruce with Baggies in drop zone

West Bromwich Albion fans have apologised to Newcastle United supporters over Steve Bruce with the Baggies in the Championship drop zone.

A goalless draw with Luton Town at the Hawthorns on Saturday has seen Bruce’s side remain in the bottom three, with just 11 points to their name after 13 league matches this season. West Brom are two points from safety in 22nd and have won just once in the league, beating fellow strugglers Hull City back in August.

Fans have started to make their feelings known about Bruce and have apologised to Newcastle supporters who warned them about him when he was appointed in February.

One Baggies fan tweeted: “I would like to apologise to all Newcastle fans for not believing them when it came to the appointment of Steve Bruce, they were spot on!”

Another added: “F*** me, what’s it gonna take to sack Bruce?” A third also wrote: “He’s still going to be in charge for the next game isn’t he. Absolute shambles of a club at the moment.”

One more supporter also commented: “I think we all owe Newcastle fans an apology on their thoughts of Steve Bruce, everything they warned us about has come into fruition, it’s toxic.”

Bruce arrived at West Brom after being sacked by Newcastle in October last year, before he replaced Valerian Ismael four months later.

Steve Bruce has won just one league match this season

The Baggies were seventh in the Championship when Bruce was appointed but went on to finish the season three places lower in 10th.

Since his arrival, West Brom have won just eight of their 32 matches across all competitions, with Bruce’s contract running until the end of the season.

However, Bruce is unlikely to make it to the end of the campaign if West Brom’s poor form continues. Two sides around them in the table, Hull and Middlesbrough have both sacked their managers in the last two weeks.

Baggies fans will hope their season can get back on track next Saturday when they face fifth-place Reading away from home.
