Man Utd willing to let Cristiano Ronaldo go in January as crunch talks await on Monday

Cristiano Ronaldo is likely to be allowed to leave Manchester United in January, even if showdown talks with Erik ten Hag go well on Monday.

Ronaldo’s been left out in the cold at Old Trafford since his strop against Tottenham last Wednesday which saw the 37-year-old storm down the tunnel before the final whistle. Following his outburst, the Portuguese attacker was axed from United’s squad for their 1-1 draw with Chelsea on Saturday, and forced to train with the club’s youngsters.

Despite issuing a statement where he vowed to fight for his place at Old Trafford, he was still fined £720,000 by the Red Devils for his actions. And before he’s allowed to train with the first team again, Ten Hag reportedly wants to see genuine remorse from Ronaldo when they meet at the beginning of the week, after the team’s rest on Sunday.

However, regardless of how their meeting goes, Ten Hag is believed to be willing to let Ronaldo leave in the New Year if he can find a suitor, according to The Mirror. The Red Devils were even considering letting him leave on a free transfer to get the disgruntled attacker off their books.

Ronaldo’s set for showdown talks with Ten Hag on Monday about his future at United following his walkout

But offloading Ronaldo could prove a difficult task as he failed to find a new club when trying to engineer a move away from Manchester in the summer.

The ex-Real Madrid striker could find solace in the MLS with former team-mate David Beckham’s Inter Miami side where he’d be given the main role that he still desperately craves.

But Ten Hag’s ready to let Ronaldo go irrespective of the outcome of their chat

His United debacle has even caused friction amongst Red Devils icons Gary Neville and Roy Keane who had a blazing row about the saga engulfing their former club and team-mate.

Keane thinks Ronaldo’s been treated harshly and still deserves a spot in the first-team, while Neville reckons United are better off without the forward and wants him gone next week if possible.
