Dramatic surveillance footage shows the moment SNL comedian Chris Redd was floored in New York by a sucker punch which ‘split’ his nose and sprayed blood across the sidewalk.
Redd is seen strolling up the busy street as he made his way to perform at the Comedy Cellar in Greenwich Village.
The grainy footage shows him suddenly collapse to the ground after he was punched in the face at 9.40pm on Wednesday.
Shocked onlookers immediately spring from their seats to aid the comedian, whose nose was busted open by the blow.
Staff at a nearby restaurant had to scrub the sidewalk with hot water after the attack to clear up the blood.
The attack on Redd by a mystery assailant was completely unprovoked. Cops have yet to make an arrest, and it’s unclear why the star was targeted.

Witness Fabrizio Cavallacci, who owns Cafe Reggio next door to the comedy club, told KTLA: ‘He had his nose cracked — not broken, but split — and a lot of blood was coming out.’
Cavallacci said he was outside when the attack happened, adding: ‘A whole bunch of people [were] gathered there, and they really bashed the poor guy.
‘He was really bleeding a lot.’
He said: ‘After an ambulance came … we took a pail of hot water to clean the sidewalk because it was really messy.’
The cafe boss said two masked men ran off down the street after the attack and ‘things like this happen pretty often’ in the area.
The attacker was reportedly wearing brass knuckles when he punched the comedian on Wednesday.

Sources close to the star said Redd was left with two black eyes and a large gash on his nose which required stitches.
Redd was rushed to the hospital, but released shortly afterwards.
The star is said to be meeting with police to go over surveillance footage, with Redd ‘rocked to the core’ by the attack and planning on using security around him going forward.
He was getting out of a car in front of the Comedy Cellar in Greenwich Village when a man dressed in a security guard uniform ran up to him and allegedly assaulted him.
The funnyman was wearing a Greg Yuna chain, which came apart when the suspect allegedly grabbed it as he ran away from the bloody crime scene.
He was also able to recover his necklace from the scene.
The attack left a bloody aftermath as blood could be seen splattered on the floor and stairs in front of the Comedy Cellar in Greenwich Village.
