NFL kicker ‘thinks he’s Neymar’ as he pulls off a rabona from kick-off mid-game

An NFL kicker has been told he “thinks he’s Neymar” after attempting a rabona from kick-off mid-game.

Brazilian superstar Neymar is known for his array of eye-catching tricks and flicks with a football, occasionally whipping out a rabona to the delight of viewers.

And American football fans must have thought they were watching the Paris Saint-Germain sensation in action when New York Jets punter and kick-off specialist Braden Mann attempted a rabona.

Mann went for an audacious onside kick in Sunday’s defeat to the New England Patriots in front of a bewildered crowd. He failed to connect as sweetly as he would have hoped, however, with his opponent coolly collecting the ball and downing it at the Jets’ 43-yard line.

One Twitter user and ‘soccer’ fan commented: “I LOVE LOVE LOVE the rabona onside kick attempt tho. NFL announcers not knowing what to call it makes it extra special.”

Neymar regularly dazzles fans with his skills

Another wrote: “First time I’ve ever seen a kicker pull out the rabona in a nfl game,” while a third hilariously jibed: “He thinks he’s Neymar.”

A fourth tweeted: “Braden Mann Rabona was not on my bingo card for today.”

Mann would have been forgiven for trying to replicate Neymar’s outlandish skills given the forward’s marvellous performances this season. He delivered yet another classy display for PSG on the weekend while nearly delivering one of the all-time great assists.

Neymar picked up the ball from deep and skipped past three Troyes players with ease, before completing a spinning back-heel pass to carve open the defence. Kylian Mbappe unfortunately failed to convert the chance, leaving Neymar with just the goal and an assist for the game.
