How to get a Morrisons hot meal for free with secret saying

Free scran is very welcome at any time, but during a cost-of-living crisis, it is a god-send.

We’ve seen the £1 soup and tea offer for over 60s from Asda and a host of kids-eat-free deals during the school holidays at other supermarket cafes.

But Morrisons is going one better by giving shoppers who know the secret password a free meal at its supermarket cafes.

Anyone can claim the hot food— there is no need to have bought anything else, or to have a loyalty card.

The deal is only running until Sunday (November 6) though, so anyone keen to save some money on a hearty lunch should get there quick.

Customers can get a free meal at Morrisons cafes — but the deal finishes soon

The supermarket has set the target of dishing out more than 160,000 free meals across its 397 Morrisons cafés while stocks last.

What is the password for the free lunch at Morrisons?

Heinz is behind the free hot lunch offer

Skip up to the counter of any Morrisons cafe, ask for “a Henry” and a free lunch will be coming your way.

A hearty baked potato covered in Heinz baked beans with a small side salad will be served up pronto.

The reason behind the password is because the supermarket has teamed up with Heinz to celebrate founder Henry J Heinz.

The offer started on October 26 and only has a few more days to run, ending on Sunday November 6.

The deal is while stocks last, with a limit of one meal per customer per day.

Why is Heinz paying for people’s lunches?

Asking for ‘a Henry’ will get hungry shoppers a free lunch

The US food giant Heinz has been using its healthy profits to help end food poverty, with the Morrisons deal part of those efforts.

It has also entered into a long-term partnership with charity Magic Breakfast.

The free meals at Morrisons — which this year fell out of the so-called “big four” of UK supermarkets after Aldi overtook it in terms of market share — will be open to anyone with no questions asked.

Heinz hopes the paid-for meals helped families during the half-term holiday, along with anyone else who needs a hot dinner.

As part of the giveaway, Heinz has also donated 100,000 meals to Magic Breakfast to help feed children at risk of starting the day hungry in the UK.

Jojo De Noronha, northern Europe president at Heinz, said: “October marks the birthday of a very special member of the Heinz family, our founder Henry J. Heinz.

“Henry brought comfort and goodness to others, not just through his food but his actions.

“We want to honour his good heart and kind spirit by doing what he did best: helping feed people in times of need — and that’s why we’re launching ‘ask for Henry’ with our partner Morrisons.

“We believe everyone deserves the goodness, comfort and warmth a can of Heinz Beanz can bring, and whilst we know it doesn’t fix the problem, we hope our ‘ask for Henry’ initiative can be of some help at this difficult time for many, particularly over half term.”

Sian Whittle, category director of Morrisons cafés, said: “We know that our customers are under real financial pressure at the moment and are therefore pleased to be partnering with Heinz on its ‘ask for Henry’ initiative to offer customers a free jacket potato topped with Beanz.”

It is best to check with your local Morrisons café to see the terms and conditions.
