Police arrest second teen over murder of man, 21, stabbed to death in London high street as they question 17-year-old after previously arresting 14-year-old

  • Paramedics were called to Downham, southeast London, at 11.50pm last Friday 
  • 21-year-old Gabriel Petrov Stoyanov was found suffering from stab wounds
  • Mr Stoyanov was taken to hospital but later died from his injuries on Saturday 
  • A 14-year-old boy was arrested on Tuesday and a 17-year-old was arrested today

A second teenager has now been arrested on suspicion of murder after a 21-year-old man was fatally stabbed in southeast London last week.

Officers and paramedics were called to Bromley Road in Downham at 11.50pm on Friday, November 4, to a report of a man stabbed.

Gabriel Petrov Stoyanov was taken to hospital but sadly died from his injuries the following afternoon.

A 14-year-old was boy arrested on Tuesday on suspicion of murder, while a 17-year-old boy was arrested today on suspicion of the same count.

Both remain in custody and are being questioned by officers.

Detective Chief Inspector Kelly Allen, from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command, said: ‘This arrest shows the progress our investigation is making but there is still work to be done.

‘One suspect remains outstanding and my team continues to pursue lines of enquiry to ensure they will be arrested. My message to that individual is clear – you know who you are and what you have done, and I would advise you to attend a police station at the earliest possible time before police find you.

‘I would also continue to ask anyone with information that could assist us in our enquiry to come forward immediately.’

A murder investigation was launched after Gabriel was stabbed in Bromley Road, Downham following an incident shortly before midnight on Friday, 4 November.

Officers attended along with colleagues from the London Ambulance Service.

They found 21-year-old Gabriel suffering stab injuries. He was taken to hospital for treatment but died during the afternoon of Saturday, 5 November.
