Cristiano Ronaldo ‘doesn’t respect Ten Hag’ because Man Utd boss ‘doesn’t respect him’

Cristiano Ronaldo bluntly said he doesn’t respect Erik ten Hag as he doesn’t believe the Manchester United manager respects him.

The Portuguese superstar appeared to be back in the Old Trafford good books when Ten Hag gave him the captain’s armband before the Reds’ defeat to Aston Villa. It was a decision that not long proceeded Ten Hag’s decision to jettison Ronaldo from the squad after he refused to come on as a substitute, before storming out of Old Trafford before the end of United’s 2-0 win over Tottenham.

He was absent from the United squad before the Red Devils’ 2-1 away victory over Fulham. And all bridges appear to be burned as he tore into the new United manager.

“If you don’t have respect for me, I’m never gonna have respect for you.” It is a truly staggering interview that has come just before United head into the World Cup squad.

He also accused the United hierarchy of turning him into ‘a black sheep’ at the club, while also trying to attribute the blame at his doorstep. His interview with Piers Morgan, as quoted in the Sun, proceed another interview from Ten Hag, in which the United boss admitted Ronaldo is “always a big issue”.

“The players, the team, are really happy that he is in our dressing room, but I have to deal with him. But also, you will not getting, say, the marriage from what you did in the past, you can always be judged by what you’re doing in the present.
