Reece James bemuses fans ‘looking like Sully from Monsters Inc’ after England snub

Reece James has left fans stunned with his choice of attire fresh from his England snub at the World Cup.

The Chelsea star is currently sidelined with a knee injury that he suffered against AC Milan in the Champions League last month. There had been a slim hope that he could get fit in time for the World Cup this winter.

However, the Qatari competition has come too soon for Gareth Southgate and he has had to go ahead and not name James in his World Cup squad. It has left the 22-year-old devastated, who would have appeared in the tournament for the first time.

Nevertheless, James has been making the most of his time on the sidelines by taking up a somewhat questionable interest in fashion. It was not long ago when the right-back was spotted in the stands with green hair.

But the youngster might have made his most daring appearance yet – donning what can only be described as by fans as Sully from Monsters Inc. One fan replied to James’ Instagram post: “Drip is so questionable.”

Another wrote: “What in the Cookie Monster is that outfit.” While this fan said: “Ur killing me w these fits man. Tryna defend u out ere.”

And this fan said: “looks like sully from monsters inc.” But this supporter wrote: “Reece i think your unbelievably good at football and Chels’ best player but what the f*** have u got on in that 2nd pic mate.”

Injury has ultimately cost Reece James a place at the World Cup, although Gareth Southgate could have taken a gamble on the Chelsea wing-back’s fitness

Chelsea will hope James is out of the Sully suit and back in blue after the World Cup is finished after a dramatic turn of form since his injury. Graham Potter’s men have won just one Premier League game since the full-back got injured.

James will also not be with the England squad, despite Paul Merson’s protests, over the next month or so as the Three Lions look to go one further than their semi-final appearance four years ago.
