Peter Crouch going for Christmas No1 alongside BGT legend and opera singer Paul Potts
Peter Crouch has signed up with opera singer Paul Potts and a 20-piece orchestra in a bid to net a Christmas No1.
The classical album of terrace chants features such faves as You’re Not Singing Anymore, Enger-land, Enger-land, Enger-land and The 12 Days Of Football. The duo hope the tongue-in-cheek record – released yesterday – will form the perfect soundtrack to a Three Lions’ World Cup victory in Qatar.
Ex-England star Crouch, 41, said: “We’ve taken the best terrace chants and sprinkled a bit of festive magic on them.” And they plan to score a major victory against the anti-gay Gulf state’s ropey human rights record by donating all the proceeds to LGBT+ charity Stonewall.

Potts, who belts out a spine-tingling version of You’re Not Singing Any-more, said: “Our goal with the album is to inspire England fans to cheer on the team give the country the lift they so desperately need right now. It was an honour to get the World Cup call-up from an England legend like Peter. I’ve always looked up to him.”
Bookmaker Paddy Power, which produced the eight-track album, has pledged £25,000 to the charity.

Crouch added: “I’ve always wanted to release my own album – so what better time than during a World Cup at Christmas? We’ve taken the best terrace chants and sprinkled a bit of festive magic on them.
“The whole team put in a big shift and I’m really happy with the teamwork, dedication and the finished product. With Paddy Power’s bank roll and the people’s support, we hope a Christmas number one album is coming home…at the very least.”
