Rob Beckett ‘channels Cristiano Ronaldo’ to leave England World Cup stars speechless

Rob Beckett has stunned the England players after landing a brilliant goal.

The comedian channeled his inner-Cristiano Ronaldo with a series of wonderful goals – with even Romesh Ranganathan admitting: “Genuinely, I am expecting Gareth Southgate to announce him in the England squad.”

The For The Love of Hip Hop Host continued: “He seems to be possessed by Cristiano Ronaldo. He’s done some sort of prayer, and Ronaldo, despite being alive, has entered Rob Beckett’s body.”

Beckett said: “It was like a dream. I got invited to the England training and scored loads of worldie goals. And I can’t really enjoy it, because Romesh is so sad.”

And those in the comments section were equally amazed. One wrote: “Jude’s reactions to Rob’s strikes are hilarious to watch.” Another wrote: “Great to see Luke Shaw in good spirits before the big tournament.”

A third stated: “All three strikes are genuinely excellent – different techniques for all 3 and he hit them with such accuracy and precision (inside foot for the free kick, through the laces for the second, a bit of shin for the volley). The way he positioned himself you can tell he knows what he is doing.”

After he scored a cracking volley, Jude Bellingham and Mason Mount joined in the celebration

A last one provided a mock transcription: “(Rob) ‘I can’t really enjoy it because Romesh is so sad’. (Also Rob) ‘celebrating with Bellingham and Mount to the tune of Nessun Dorma’.”

It comes after former Arsenal star Theo Walcott told Gareth Southgate to start James Maddison instead of Mason Mount for England at the World Cup.

The Leicester star has done brilliantly recently and performances have finally warranted a call-up to the Three Lions ahead of their trip to Qatar for the World Cup.

Declan Rice applauded from the sidelines

On talkSPORT, Walcott said that the Foxes star deserves a place in the starting XI alongside Harry Kane and Bukayo Saka. Walcott said: “It’s got to be Saka, Kane and… Sterling. He’s always done so well in and England shirt.

“I know there are players in form like Rashford and people like this. You could try them, but in the first game you want to have people with experience in tournament football.

“I know Saka’s a bit more inexperienced, but he’s top quality and I’d play Maddison behind Kane. I’m a big fan of him so I’m so pleased he’s gone.”
