Liverpool and Man Utd fans tussle over Jude Bellingham – the new ‘box to box’ king
Liverpool and Manchester United fans have been having it out over who Jude Bellingham is more like after he starred for England against Iran.
Still aged just 19 and playing for the Three Lions for the 18th time already – the Borussia Dortmund wonderkid opened the scoring at the World Cup for this country. It came about after a brilliant looping header, running into the box to meet Luke Shaw’s cross.
But it was not just the teenager’s goal that impressed – nearly everything was perfect from the midfielder. His passing, tackling, anticipation, pressing and leadership in the centre of the pitch has drawn some big comparisons.

Liverpool fans have idolised Bellingham as the second coming of Steven Gerrard while United fans can see their own Bryan Robson in the youngster. With both clubs desperate to sign him next summer, warring factions have already been set up.
One Liverpool fan said: “Jude Bellingham channeling his inner Steven Gerrard.” But a United fan wrote: “Jude Bellingham looks a complete midfield player. Can do it all and that is very rare. Shades of Robson and Keane.”
What do you think, more like Gerrard or Robson? Or just plain Jude? Comment below
This Reds supporter said: “Bellingham said in an interview before the game that Steven Gerrard is his idol. He then scored a header identical to Gerrard’s in Istanbul.”
And another reply said: “Elements of Bryan Robson and Paul Scholes in Bellingham’s goal yesterday. No wonder United were so desperate to sign him 2yrs ago and are still so keen. He is the complete midfielder.”
This Reds Devils fan said: “Jude Bellingham , Bryan Robson reincarnated… Vision, power and now goals.” But this Liverpool fan said: “Nah Bellingham is actually Gerrard’s regen that was the Istanbul goal.”
When talking about himself, Bellingham might actually have made his mind up already – and it will not be what United fans want to hear. He said: “When your heroes take the time to appreciate what you’ve done, it is really special [Gerrard interview].
“I’m not sure how I feel [about Gerrard comparisons] because it’s almost disrespectful to him with all he has achieved in the game.”
