Boy George has taken a swipe at Lorraine Kelly after the presenter mocked his alleged off-camera meltdown on the latest series of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!
The Culture Club singer was said to have thrown a tantrum after a pre-existing medical issue meant Coronation Street actress Sue Cleaver was driven back to camp in a golf buggy following their Bushtucker Trial, while he was forced to walk.
The incident prompted derision from Lorraine, who also rubbished his repeated claims of being ‘honest and upfront’ while repeatedly talking about campmates – primarily MP Matt Hancock – when they were out of earshot.
Not happy: Boy George has taken a swipe at Lorraine Kelly after the presenter mocked his alleged off-camera meltdown on the latest series of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!
Referencing comments made by the host on her daily breakfast show, George, 61, tweeted: ‘Yes my darling Lorraine I bet you walk everywhere and do your own make-up? Lol!’
George – whose reported £500k fee makes him one of the highest paid stars in the show’s 22-year history – became the fourth celebrity to leave camp on Tuesday evening following the departures of Charlene White, Scarlette Douglas and Sue.
But his exit was preceded by some harsh words from Lorraine, whose live TV comments were posted by the unamused singer on Wednesday evening.
Speaking out: Taking to Twitter, the Culture Club singer responded to comments made by Lorraine on her daily breakfast show
Speaking her mind: Straight talking Lorraine offered a shrewd assessment of the singer’s alleged meltdown
In a clip shared on Twitter, she chides: ‘Boy George – now what’s going on there? He keeps saying, “I speak my mind, I speak my mind” but he’s always sort of doing hushed asides.
‘But he did have a wee bit of a tantrum… not a tantrum, it was just a… I don’t know what you would call it.’
Commenting on his alleged meltdown, she added: ‘Does he even watch this show? You don’t get golf buggies George!
‘I think the thing with George is not that many people tell him no. I’m very fond of him but there’s that as well!’
George has since been refused permission to fly back to the UK from Australia after the homesick star demanded a waiver from the I’m A Celeb final.
The diva-like singer is ‘desperate’ to go home but is contractually obliged to stay in Australia until the ITV series has ended.
He also snubbed doing ITV’s post-exit interviews, failing to make an appearance on any of the channel’s morning shows the day of his eviction.
Sources close to the Karma Chameleon singer told MailOnline: ‘He wanted to go home immediately, he doesn’t want to hang around.’

Stuck in Oz: The singer, 61, was voted off the show on Tuesday night, and is ‘desperate’ to go home but is contractually obliged to stay in Australia until the ITV series has ended
They continued: ‘If he had his way he would be on a plane already but he wasn’t allowed to do that.
‘His aim of going into the jungle was for the world to see the stripped back version of him, no hair, makeup, costumes, or hats – he didn’t actually care how far he went in the competition.
‘The fact he has to stay in Australia for days now is an annoyance to him, he isn’t fussed about sticking around for the final but that’s what he has to do.
‘He’s travelled across the world his entire career and has seen Australia before so there’s really no reason for him to be here, especially as he isn’t concerned with catching up with his co-stars on the other side.’
MailOnline has contacted George’s representatives for comment.

George has won himself a reputation as a diva while in the jungle.
He infuriated his camp mates by meditating noisily through the night and has been caught bitching about his co-stars, mainly Matt Hancock.
In contrast to his evicted co-stars including Charlene White, Scarlette Douglas and Sue Cleaver, the Eighties icon does not feel obliged to continue supporting his campmates, having previously admitting to pals that he didn’t care when he was evicted and wasn’t signing up for the show to make friends.
He will now be staying at the JW Marriott Gold Coast hotel alongside the other evicted campmates and their friends and family, as well as his sister and nephew, who have joined him in Australia.
Looking good: He was the first contestant in the show’s history to customise the uniform celebrities are forced to wear, telling MailOnline that he didn’t seek permission from ITV
During his time in the jungle he accused his campmates of not ‘being themselves’ but when quizzed by Ant and Dec about who he was referring to, he refused to comment.
He also threatened to quit the show altogether when Hancock arrived, telling viewers if his unwell mother had passed during the pandemic, he would have walked from the series.
George said: ‘It’s difficult for me because, you know, had something happened, if my mum had gone, I would have gone when he walked in.’
George was in the Australian jungle for 18 days before finding himself in the bottom two alongside close friend, radio DJ Chris Moyles.
He reportedly banked the highest fee to appear on the series this year, earning a whopping £500,000 for his jungle stint.
The singer told hosts Ant and Dec on Tuesday that he was ‘happy’ to be leaving camp, adding: ‘I am so looking forward to getting back into control.’
He was the first contestant in the show’s history to customise the uniform celebrities are forced to wear, telling MailOnline ahead of entering the jungle that he didn’t seek permission from ITV to make the style adjustments.
George said: ‘Well, I didn’t ask permission. They sent me the hat and it was just too small. So I just chopped it up.
‘To be honest with you, you know, I got sent two shirts. I didn’t think I would get away with that. I just did it.’
