Fans lose their minds as Wesley Sneijder ‘living good life’ spotted at World Cup

Wesley Sneijder was spotted at the World Cup looking a little larger than life.

The former Netherlands international, watching his national side in Qatar, was caught by cameras having put on a little bit of chub since his playing days.

And fans were quick to respond at the sight of the football legend, known for his sparkling playing career for the likes of Real Madrid and Inter Milan – as well as his constant links to Manchester United.

One said online: “Sneijder is obese you love to see it.”

Another said: “Every good man wants to grow old like Sneijder living the good life.” A third wrote: “Van der Vaart and Sneijder kill me man, every time I see their chubby faces I laugh before reading their comments, they are always fighting.”

Fans have pointed out the former star’s size

A last one said: “Meanwhile Internazionale legend Wesley Sneijder is looking chubby in the stands.”

It is only normal for athletes who are now out of the sport to relax a little bit and ease off their diet regime. Sneijder retired from football in 2019 after a period with Qatari side Al Gharafa. He did make a return to the pitch for a recent charity game to raise money for Ukraine, where he had a bit of a fuller figure.

After the Netherlands needed two late goals from Cody Gakpo and Davy Klaassen to beat Senegal in their opening World Cup match, Sneijder was outspoken in his criticism.

“It’s a matter of quality. I have not seen anyone who could give the decisive pass, at the right time, with the right speed. Those opportunities were really there. With the team of the 2010 World Cup, we had already led 3-0 at halftime.”

The Netherlands, in their second game, were held to a 1-1 draw against Ecuador, with Cody Gakpo putting the Dutch a goal up in the sixth minute before Enner Valencia levelling the score.
