Conor Coady annoyed by Jordan Henderson’s Everton vs Liverpool dig in England camp

Conor Coady warned Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson he will “sit down with him and give him a bit” after he asked the Everton ace if he was ‘red or blue’.

Club allegiances have been put to one side for the 2022 World Cup with both Henderson and Coady being called up by Gareth Southgate. The Liverpool ace received his first minutes of the tournament when he was brought on by the Three Lions boss, who wanted to wrestle back control of the game from the USA.

He will likely play a further role in the tournament and may even be called upon once again when the Three Lions face Wales in their final group match. But in the build-up to the contest, Henderson could be seen jokingly pushing the former Wolves captain’s buttons.

Henderson had the perfect window of opportunity to have a little stab at his Everton rival

“Conor, we are all England here,” Henderson began in an amusing video posted on England’s social media channels. “But what I really want to know is, are you blue or red? ”

When the question was put back to Coady, the central defender laughed briefly and then firmly responded “Do you know what, that is so poor from him..

“We have banter all the time and obviously, I’m playing at Everton. He knows, he knows, deep down. So for him to come out there and ask that question.

“I’m blue. Of course I’m blue. Without a shadow of a doubt and for him to say that, you know what, I’m going to go back there and sit down with him and have a coffee, and give him a bit.

“That’s nowhere near good enough from the big fella.” Hopefully, as it appears, it is all just fun and games as England approach their vital battle of Britain clash against Wales. Only a defeat by more than four goals and an Iran victory over the United States would see the Three Lions crash out of the tournament.

However, they could still lose top spot if they fail to overcome the wounded Welsh and Iran manage to grab three points over USA. England’s campaign began with an excellent 6-2 victory over Iran but their momentum has been sapped by a frustrating goalless draw to their neighbours across the pond.
