Jamie Carragher warns France are the only World Cup side playing better than England
‘Only one team has impressed me more than England’: Jamie Carragher hails the Three Lions’ performance in last-16 win against Senegal… but labels quarter-final opponents France as the best team at the World Cup!
Jamie Carragher has said only one team has played better than England at the World Cup – their quarter-final opponents France.
The Three Lions eased past Senegal 3-0 in their last-16 tie on Sunday evening in a superb showing, setting up a knockout clash with the reigning champions on Saturday night.
And Carragher told The Telegraph at full-time that England have really impressed him at the World Cup – but admits Les Bleus have impressed him more.

The pundit was speaking after it was confirmed England will play Les Bleus in the quarter-final
He said: ‘Very impressive again from England. Yes, we have not played a “major” team yet, but who else is doing this to the so-called lesser nations?
‘You can only beat what is in front of you, but we are doing it extremely well.
‘There is only one team I have seen that has impressed me more than England in this World Cup. Unfortunately, that team is France.’

However, Liverpool icon Carragher hailed the Three Lions’ performance after they beat Senegal 3-0 in their last-16 tie on Sunday afternoon to set up the knockout clash with France
The Paris Saint-Germain star is the top scorer at the World Cup with five goals, two clear of his closest competitors in the Golden Boot race, including team-mate Olivier Giroud, Lionel Messi, and England’s Marcus Rashford and Bukayo Saka.
England went unbeaten in their group, beating Iran 6-2, Wales 3-0 either side of a 0-0 draw against the USA, while France beat Australia 4-1, Denmark 2-1 and then lost 1-0 against Tunisia when already qualified for the knockouts.
