This is the moment a raging driver used his van as a battering ram to write off a £40,000 police car after being cornered in a high speed chase.

Dino Price, 22, drove at double the speed limit through winding village roads after officers attempted to pull him over.

A court heard police were driving in an unmarked car when they saw Price almost crash as he dangerously overtook another car – but he accelerated away and drove at 80mph in a 40mph stretch of road and 60mph in a 30mph zone.

When officers cornered Price at a dead-end street and activated their sirens, he reversed back into the police car with his van. He rammed the car twice more before he was arrested.

Prosecutor Gareth James said officers cornered Price when he drove into a dead-end street.

He said: ‘Police reactivate their blue lights and siren and the defendant turns into a dead end. He is then seen to reverse back into the police car and push it back using his van.

‘He uses the van as a battering ram.’

Mr James said the officers leapt from the car and attempted to Taser Price but he managed to get away.

‘The officers said after the incident that they had feared for their lives,’ a court heard

Cardiff Crown Court heard he rammed the car twice more before managing to escape but the van was found dumped a short while later and Price arrested nearby.

Mr James said: ‘He immediately admitted that he should not have done what he had done and showed remorse towards the officers.

‘The officers said after the incident that they had feared for their lives.’

Mr James said the police car – worth £40,000 – was written off.

Cocaine addict Price admitted dangerous driving, criminal damage and affray.

Jac Brown, defending, said: ‘He had admitted to the offences and expressed remorse. He understands the consequences of his actions.’
