Royal fans catch Harry and Meghan ‘changing story’ about how they met in Netflix doc

Prince Harry revealed how he first met Meghan Markle in the couple’s newly released Netflix docuseries.

However, royal fans believe the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have changed their story given that Harry previously said they met in a different way.

The first three episodes of Harry and Meghan’s series, titled Harry & Meghan, were released this morning (Thursday, December 8) and have already caused quite the stir online.

In episode one, Harry gives royal fans an insight into how he first met his now-wife.

He claimed: “Meghan and I met over Instagram.

“I was scrolling through my feed and someone who was a friend had this video of the two of them.”

He added that the first time he saw Meghan it was in a photo with a snapchat dog filter on.

“That was the first thing, I was like ‘who is that?’,” Harry said. Meghan added: “That’s ridiculous.”

Yet back in 2017 Harry told the BBC that the pair actually met on a blind date.

He said then: “It was definitely a set-up — it was a blind date. It was a blind date for sure.”

Speaking in the documentary, Meghan said that she’d actually been stalking Harry’s instagram feed to see “what he was about”.

“I went through and it was just like beautiful photography and all these environmental shots and this time he was spending in Africa,” she said.

The pair said they then spoke for a while before agreeing to meet for drinks in London – which Harry was actually late for.

“He kept texting ‘I’m in traffic, I’m so sorry’,” Meghan said.

Harry added: “I was panicking, I was freaking out. I was sweating.”

Royal fans on Twitter have been busy reacting to the new story as to how they met.

One wrote: “Which one is ‘their truth’?”

Referencing the Palace’s “some recollections may vary” statement following the infamous Oprah Winfrey interview, another person said: “So which is the right recollection I wonder?”

A third asked: “I thought Harry and Meghan met on a blind date? Now they met and started chatting after he saw a picture on Instagram? Which is it?”

One royal fan asked on Twitter: ‘Which one is ‘their truth’?’

However, others seemed more understanding of the different stories.

One said: “Didn’t most people lie and make up another story about meeting online? I know we used to. It’s only now, after 10 years of marriage that we tell the proper truth.”

Another wrote: Aren’t blind dates where you meet people for a date who you have never met before, not someone who’s already a friend or acquaintance? You don’t actually need to be blind, and photos are the norm…”
