All the bombshell moments that will be featured in volume two of Harry and Meghan’s Netflix doc

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are set to denote a slew of royal bombs tomorrow when they release the second volume of their explosive Netflix series – and DailyMail.com is now breaking down every sensational titbit that could come out of the next three episodes of their show. 

The couple has thus far released only a sneak peek at what is to come from the next installment of their documentary in a series of clips and trailers. However all of those indicate that the Sussexes are preparing to launch their most explicit attack on the Monarchy to date.  

Having ended the first volume in the lead-up to their wedding, it is understood that part two will pick up during the preparations for the ceremony – which could well see Meghan, 41, addressing speculation that she insisted upon wearing a specific tiara for her special day, as well as allegations that she ‘made Kate cry’ over an argument about a bridesmaid’s dress. 

Needless to say, the event makes for rocky territory as far as the royals are concerned – and that’s before the topic of Megxit has even been broached. 

Even before the couple quit the royal family in favor of a life here in the US, there were several hot-button moments that could present the perfect opportunity for the pair to ‘share their side of the story’.

From Meghan’s decision to break royal protocol during the birth of her first child, Archie, to the Sussexes’ recent allegations that palace insiders ‘leaked’ and ‘made up’ negative stories about them to protect other members of the Monarchy, there is no shortage of controversy set to be covered in the upcoming episodes. 

Then, of course, there is the couple’s explosive March 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey – during which they made several very damaging allegations about the royal family, the most sensational of which saw them accuse an unnamed senior royal of making racist comments about their son’s skin tone. 

Will the couple finally reveal the name of that royal? Will they share ‘their side’ of the rift between themselves and the Prince and Princess of Wales?

Who made who cry at the royal wedding? Meghan could take aim at Princess of Wales over 2018 bridesmaids dress argument

When Harry and Meghan officially became husband and wife on May 19, 2018, on the outside, the royals seemed as happy as could be to welcome Meghan into their family.

Both the newlyweds and their relatives grinned from ear to ear in photos from the day – but many were left wondering if their happy faces were just a façade to cover up a deeper family rift.

The wedding was quickly overshadowed by rumors of a major row between Meghan and Kate, 40, which erupted over Kate’s daughter, Princess Charlotte’s flower girl dress and left one of the women in tears.

For months, speculation had swirled that there was growing tension between the Princess of Wales and her soon-to-be sister-in-law – and things seemed to come to a head in the days leading up to the wedding.

The Telegraph reported at the time that Kate was the one who broke down in tears ‘following a bridesmaids dress fitting for Princess Charlotte,’ but Meghan later claimed on Oprah that it was the other way around – and the question of who made who cry has been one that has burned in many people’s minds ever since.

‘The reverse happened,’ Meghan insisted. ‘I say that not to be disparaging to anyone because it was a really hard week.

‘But it really hurt my feelings. I thought in the context of everything that was going on in those days leading to the wedding that it didn’t make sense to not just be doing what everyone else was doing, which was being supportive knowing what was going on with my dad and whatnot.’

Meghan added in the 2021 interview that Kate ‘apologized’ afterwards, and brought her flowers, while praising her for ‘taking accountability.’

‘She was upset about something,’ she explained. ‘But she owned it and she apologized, and she brought me flowers and a note apologizing. She did what I would do if I knew I hurt someone, take accountability for it.’

The mother-of-two also said that she ‘never wanted’ what happened to come out to the media, and that she was upset that the royal family didn’t try to correct the original report that claimed she was the one that made Kate cry.

The flower girl dress incident left many people around the world divided over what really happened – and it was seemingly one of the catalyst moments that lead to Meghan and Harry eventually parting ways with the monarchy, so it’s likely going to be a heavily covered topic in the next three parts of the Netflix doc.

‘I think that’s when everything changed, really,’ Meghan told Oprah last year, while referring to the quarrel between her and Kate.

Tantrums over a tiara? Queen reportedly ‘had words’ with Harry over ‘difficult’ Meghan’s choice of wedding tiara – but what will she have to say about it? 

Much has been made over the past four years of a tricky situation involving Meghan’s choice of tiara for her May 2018 wedding to Harry. 

An early version of events suggested that the then-bride-to-be had her ‘heart set’ on a tiara containing emeralds, however she was reportedly told that she couldn’t wear it because it the green stones may have been from Russia, according to The Sun. 

Instead, the Queen is said to have selected a diamond tiara that was worn by her grandmother, Queen Mary, in 1932. 

At the time of the row, the Queen is said to have told Prince Harry, according to a Royal insider who spoke to The Sun: ‘Meghan cannot have whatever she wants. She gets what tiara she’s given by me.’

‘The Queen also questioned why Meghan needed a veil for the wedding, given it was to be her second marriage’, the source alleged, adding that: ‘Meghan can be difficult’.

However, in 2020, Meghan and Harry’s close friend Omid Scobie claimed in his book, Finding Freedom, that any upset over the tiara actually involved the Queen’s longtime dresser, Angela Kelly. 

According to Scobie and his co-author Carolyn Durand, Harry felt Kelly had deliberately dragged her feet when deciding what tiara she should advise that Meghan wear. 

As yet, neither Meghan or Harry have spoken out publicly about the incident – however, given that they have vowed to tell ‘their side of the story’ in their Netflix docuseries, this could well be the moment they choose to speak out about it.  

Breaking protocol during Archie’s birth: Meghan reportedly refused to use Queen’s doctors, shied away from the traditional walkabout afterwards, and lied to the press about labor to avoid being seen

When Meghan and Harry welcomed their first child, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, on May 6, 2019, controversy and scandal surrounded the birth even before the youngster came into the world.

Meghan certainly made it clear from the get-go that she was going to give birth her way, instead of following the strict royal protocol – it was reported that she had shunned the Queen’s highly-regarded doctors and opted to give birth at a hospital of her choice rather than the one that the other royal mothers had used, and it reportedly didn’t go over well with the monarchy.

The expecting mother allegedly ‘politely declined’ the services of Royal Household gynecologists Alan Farthing and Guy Thorpe-Beeston – who had helped deliver all three of William and Kate’s children, as well as Princess Diana’s sons – because she didn’t want ‘men in suits’ to oversee her birth.

Sources close to the Duchess stressed the ‘personal’ nature of her decision to DailyMail.com at the time, with one insider saying: ‘Above all, this is her birth, her baby, and she must do whatever feels right for her. How could anyone judge her for that?’ 

Another added, ‘She was adamant that she wanted her own people. It did leave a few of us a little baffled.’

‘It is slightly surprising. [The Queen’s doctors] are the best of the best,’ said someone else with knowledge on the subject.

At the time, it was said that some viewed her decision as unnecessarily extravagant. The Queen’s physicians do not charge a fee, but taking on a new team of specialists could have cost thousands, although it’s unclear how much she paid. 

In another break from tradition, Meghan opted not to give birth in the Lindo Wing at St Mary’s Hospital, which has been used by several other Royal mothers. 

Instead, she welcomed Archie at The Portland Hospital – an ‘American-owned, upscale, private medical center in London’s Westminster neighborhood,’ according to Washington Post.

In addition, the Duchess sparked controversy when she decided not to come out and greet photographers following the birth. 

For decades, it was royal tradition for the couple and their new baby to stand on the hospital steps and pose for photos hours after giving birth – and while Meghan did pose for photos with Harry and baby Archie, it didn’t come until two days later.

While sources at the time claimed that her ‘feminist beliefs’ were to blame for the decision, Meghan later told Oprah that she actually ‘wasn’t asked’ to do the photo op.

She added that because Archie wasn’t given a royal title, it ‘wasn’t part of the tradition,’ while slamming the Palace for not speaking out about it at the time.

‘We weren’t asked to take a picture. That’s also part of the spin that was really damaging,’ she said. 

‘I thought, “Can you just tell them the truth? Can you say to the world you’re not giving him a title, and we want to keep him safe, and that if he’s not a prince then it’s not part of the tradition?”

‘Just tell people and then they’ll understand… But they wouldn’t do that.’

When Oprah pointed out that their decision not to wait to do the walkabout came off as Meghan and Harry saying ‘we’re going to do things our way’ to the world, she doubled down that it was all about keeping her newborn safe.

‘That’s not it at all. I think what was really hard… so picture, now that you know what was going on behind-the-scenes, there was a lot of fear surrounding it,’ she continued. 

‘I was very scared of having to offer up our baby knowing that they weren’t going to be kept safe.’

Meghan previously claimed during the interview that a member of the royal family voiced ‘concerns about how dark [Archie’s] skin might be when he was born,’ but she did not specify who had made the statements. 

Meghan and Harry actually kept the news of Archie’s arrival a secret from the public at first, and even went as far as lying about the timing of his birth to the press – in an attempt to evade photographers.

The couple did not announce that Meghan was in labor until hours after Archie was already born – but they insisted it was all a ploy to make sure he was out of harms way.

Archie was born at 5:26 in the morning, and it wasn’t until 2pm that day that the Palace issued a statement claiming Meghan had just gone into labor. In reality, she, Harry, and little Archie had already arrived home from the hospital by that time. 

Royal historian Robert Lacey claimed that their decision to mislead the public fiercely angered Prince William, 40, in his book, Battle of Brothers: William and Harry – The Inside Story of a Family in Tumult.

Meghan and Harry’s shocking decision to step away from their royal duties: Harry’s family was reportedly left furious after he only gave them a mere 10-minute warning before making the announcement

When Harry and Meghan decided to say goodbye to their life as royals, it sent shockwaves around the globe, and reportedly left members of the royal family furious.

The couple first made the shocking announcement that they were going to step back from their royal duties on January 8, 2020 – and at the time, sources claimed they only told palace officials that they were going to share the news with the world a mere 10 minutes before it went live.

At the time, the couple wrote in a joint statement that they had reached the decision after ‘many months of reflection and internal discussions.’

They said they wanted to ‘work to become financially independent, while continuing to fully support Her Majesty The Queen.’ 

‘We now plan to balance our time between the United Kingdom and North America, continuing to honor our duty to The Queen, the Commonwealth, and our patronages,’ the statement continued. 

‘This geographic balance will enable us to raise our son with an appreciation for the royal tradition into which he was born, while also providing our family with the space to focus on the next chapter, including the launch of our new charitable entity.’ 

Afterwards, an insider told The Sun that Harry and Meghan had ignored orders from the Queen to not go public with their plan to step down until it was finalized by senior family members – something that allegedly left many members of the family, specifically Prince William and King Charles III, ‘incandescent with rage.’

‘Their statement was not cleared with anyone. It breaks all protocol. This is a declaration of war on the family,’ the source said. 

‘There is fury over how they’ve done this without any thought for the implications for the institution. The Queen is deeply upset. The Prince of Wales and Duke of Cambridge are incandescent with rage.’

In a terse statement issued just after the Sussexes made their own announcement, Buckingham Palace said: ‘Discussions with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are at an early stage.

‘We understand their desire to take a different approach, but these are complicated issues that will take time to work though.’

The Queen also wrote days later, ‘My family and I are entirely supportive of Harry and Meghan’s desire to create a new life as a young family.

‘Although we would have preferred them to remain full-time working members of the Royal Family, we respect and understand their wish to live a more independent life as a family while remaining a valued part of my family.’ 

Speculation about what lead to Harry and Meghan making the surprising choice swirled ravenously in the days that followed.

The Times published a story claiming that the couple was ‘pushed away by what they saw as a bullying attitude from’ Prince William – however, the brothers called the outlet’s claims ‘false’ in a statement.

It was reported that the family engaged in a ‘series of secret peace talks’ in the following days and that everyone had come to an agreement.

But just over a year later, in February 2021, Harry and Meghan announced that they were permanently stepping down as royals and moving to California full-time.

Harry later told Oprah that he felt ‘trapped’ in the family for many years, and that the decision to leave came after they experienced a ‘lack of support and lack of understanding’ from the Monarchy.

‘My biggest concern was history repeating itself,’ he added, referring to when his mother, Princess Diana, tragically died in a car crash after being relentlessly chased by paparazzi. 

He also shut down allegations that they ‘blindsided’ the Queen with the news, adding, ‘I’ve never blindsided my grandmother. I have too much respect for her.’ 

It’s likely that the couple will share some more juicy insight into what lead to their split from being royal in the upcoming final chapter of their Netflix documentary, so fans who have avidly watched the drama play out every step of the way might want to brace themselves.

The couple’s bombshell interview on Oprah: They claimed a senior royal commented on how dark Archie’s skin would be and refused to help Meghan after she said she was experiencing ‘suicidal thoughts’ and needed help

The now-famous interview with Oprah was released in March 2021 – one month after they had relocated to the States – and it marked the first time the couple had spoken out about much of what happened to them in the years prior.

In a two-hour, tell-all conversation with the talk show host, they made a series of explosive accusations, including that someone in the royal family voiced concerns over Archie’s skin color before his birth and that Meghan had suicidal thoughts while she was pregnant, but was told by the Palace that she couldn’t ‘get help’ because ‘it wouldn’t be good for the institution.’

‘I went to the institution, and I said that I needed to go somewhere to get help, I said I’d never felt this way before,’ Meghan said. ‘I was told that I couldn’t, that it wouldn’t be good for the institution.’

She added: ‘I just didn’t want to be alive anymore.’

During the interview, Harry also said his father had ‘stopped taking his calls’ and said he and his brother, William, were ‘on different paths,’ while discussing his relationship with his family.

‘I love William to bits, he’s my brother, we’ve been through hell together … but we’re on different paths,’ he explained. ‘The relationship is space at the moment. Time heals all things – hopefully.’

‘My family literally cut me off financially,’ he added. ‘[My father] stopped taking my calls.

‘There’s a lot to work through there. I feel really let down, because he’s been something similar – he knows what pain feels like, and Archie’s his grandson. But at the same time, of course, I will always love him.’

The aftermath of the bombshell interview was certainly a rollercoaster of a ride – within hours, various reports began to surface claiming the royals were ‘furious,’ ‘shocked,’ and ‘devastated,’ and many wondered if too much damage had been done for the family to ever come together again.

Their awkward reunions with the royal family: Harry returned to the UK for the first time one month later, but it wasn’t until more than a year after that that Meghan made her way across the pond

But Harry and William seemed to answers everyone’s questions when they reunited at Prince Philip’s funeral a month later, on April 17, 2021.

The brothers were seen walking and talking together outside of the service, giving hope to many that their relationship could be salvaged.

Meghan, who was pregnant with their second child, Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor, did not attend. And when she gave birth to their daughter on June 4, 2021, Prince William and his wife, Kate, publicly congratulated the pair. 

‘We are all delighted by the happy news of the arrival of baby Lili. Congratulations to Harry, Meghan and Archie,’ they said in a statement. 

Harry then returned to the UK for a second time following his move to California on July 1, when he attended an unveiling of a statue honoring his late Mother Princess Diana.

At the event, he once again was photographed chatting to Prince William. The brothers seemed in good spirits, smiling as they walked side by side.

In June 2022, Harry and Meghan returned to the UK for the first time together since they left their royal duties behind – a monumental moment that was watched by millions around the world.

They attended the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, and Meghan later called it ‘surreal’ and ‘bittersweet’ to be back in the home they once lived in.

‘You’re like, “Oh my gosh. This is what I was writing in my journal there? And here’s all my socks from this time?”‘ she joked to The Cut, while discussing what it was like to be back in her former residence at Frogmore Cottage.

‘It was bittersweet, you know? Knowing none of it had to be this way.’

The couple brought their two kids with them on the trip, which marked the first time the Queen and her husband got to meet Lilibet. 

According to Netflix’s first installment of the Harry & Meghan series, all interviews conducted for the show were completed by August 2022 – one month before the Queen passed away. 

However, it is unknown whether the Queen’s passing, or Harry and Meghan’s role in her funeral proceedings, will be featured in the documentary.  

Harry and Meghan also flew to England in September. They were set to spend five days promoting their charities and reportedly hoped to ‘avoid’ seeing the royals, but that plan was put on pause when the Queen’s health suddenly declined on September 8. 

Queen Elizabeth II sadly passed away that day, and on September 10, Harry, Meghan, William, and Kate made their first appearance as a foursome in more than two years.

The two couples walked side by side as they stopped to greet the hoards of grieving fans who had lined up outside of Windsor Castle.

After the public appearance, sources told DailyMail.com that it was King Charles III who forced the brothers to put their differences aside amid the Queen’s passing.

But a separate insider told People magazine that the meetup was ‘awkward’ and ‘hard’ for the foursome. They said, ‘It was awkward. Both couples found it hard.

‘They were in a stoic spirit of just getting through it for the Queen. It was an important show of unity at an incredibly difficult time for the family.

‘It’s such an extraordinary historical moment and also a deeply personal one for the family that you’d hope and think that all members of the family would unite and support [King Charles III] especially. And perhaps some of those wounds can be healed in the process.’
