Fans troll Cristiano Ronaldo as Georgina Rodriguez now has ‘more World Cup trophies’

After Argentina’s World Cup victory where Lionel Messi led them to glory, it did not take fans long to turn their gaze Cristiano Ronaldo’s way.

The Albiceleste lifted their third World Cup on Sunday night after beating France on penalties in a final that will live long in the memory, finishing 3-3 before penalties. Kingsley Coman and Aurelien Tchouameni missed their spot-kicks while the Argentines scored all four to make history.

And it has made up many minds over who the greatest of all time is after Messi, who won the Golden Ball at Qatar 2022, went one better than Ronaldo by winning the competition – something that Ronaldo quite realistically has no chance of ever doing now.

In fact, the former Manchester United star, who had his contract at Old Trafford ripped up before a ball was kicked in the Middle East, might even feel jealous of his partner Georgina Rodriguez, who fans are now saying has more World Cups than the 37-year-old.

The bombshell model originally hails from Buenos Aires and must have secretly been cheering on her country whilst in Ronaldo’s company with one fan saying: “So sad that she won’t be enjoying Argentina victory in that house.”

Is Lionel Messi now the undisputed GOAT? Let us know in the comments section.

Georgina Rodriguez might have had to secretly celebrate Argentina’s win

That is just one example of hundreds of comments under a post from Troll Football, who wrote: “GEORGINA RODRIGUEZ has now more World Cup than Cristiano Ronaldo!”

Another reply read: “I’ll tell Piers Morgan then…”

And this fan said, referring to Ronaldo’s limited role under Fernando Santos for Portugal throughout the World Cup: “If you feel useless, remember that someone went all the way to Qatar just to take a penalty and sit on the bench.”

Lionel Messi finally won the World Cup on Sunday for Argentina

Ronaldo is currently weighing up his next move after being released by United following his incendiary comments made about the club and Erik ten Hag. Saudi side Al Nassr have so far offered the only concrete proposal – a contract worth an astonishing £186million.

Meanwhile, Messi is in a similar position as his contract at Paris Saint-Germain comes to an end in the summer. Inter Miami are reportedly hot on his case while a return to Barcelona has not been ruled out.
