Cringe Piers Morgan tells Declan Rice ‘he’ll be loved’ at Arsenal after chat in his DMs

Piers Morgan has told Declan Rice that “he’ll be loved” at Arsenal after chatting to him via his Twitter DMs.

The broadcaster begged for the England midfielder to move to the Emirates Stadium this summer during an appearance on talkSPORT Breakfast on Tuesday morning. The Gunners have made Rice their top transfer target ahead of the summer transfer window, and they are growing increasingly confident they can beat their rivals to his signature.

Arsenal fan Piers himself has endorsed the move, responding when asked about the links: “I would love that, come on. I know you’re listening Declan. Come to the Emirates. Come and be loved!”

Piers also revealed that he and Rice have spoken on social media after the TV presenter sent him a message on Twitter, adding: “If we want to win the league we’ve got to get serious in this market now and bolster the reserves both in midfield and up front.

“I love Declan Rice. I’ve had this conversation with him on Twitter where I’ve begged him to come before. I think he’s exactly what we need.

Will Arsenal sign Declan Rice in the summer? Let us know in the comments section below.

Piers Morgan has spoken to Declan Rice via Twitter DMs

“I think that when Arsenal have our first XI starting, including Granit Xhaka and Thomas Partey, we look really strong, but if one of those two gets injured, I think we need another big midfield enforcer who can also play a role in attack too.

“Rice can do everything and he’s got that right mentality, the right attitude, I think he’s very much an Arteta-style player and I think he would fit absolutely perfectly into our squad.”

Arsenal have made Declan Rice their top transfer target

Rice is being targeted in an £80million move for the summer, when he’ll just have two years remaining on his West Ham deal. The 18th-placed Hammers have yet to agree new terms with the 24-year-old and are losing hope despite the return of Mark Noble in a sporting director role.

The skipper’s contract situation has lowered his price, with clubs told last year that a fee in excess of £100million would be required to prise the England midfielder away from the London Stadium.

Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal have shown their title credentials and are an attractive prospect for Declan Rice

Chelsea and Manchester United both remain interested, whilst Manchester City have been linked in the past, and a bidding war could still push the final figure into the nine-figure region.

However, Arsenal are understood to believe that their status as league leaders will give them an advantage in a battle for Rice’s services, while boyhood club Chelsea look like they won’t have Champions League football on offer.
