David Moyes faces sack if Everton beat West Ham – but he’ll become ‘Toffees’ No1 target’

David Moyes is facing the sack if West Ham lose to Everton on the weekend.

But one team’s loss could be the other side’s gain, as Moyes is poised to become the Toffees’ top manager target if the Scotsman gets the boot from the East London club. That’s because Everton boss Frank Lampard is also on the brink of losing his job even if he gains three points against the Hammers, and the Toffees view Moyes as the ideal replacement for the England legend, according to The Telegraph.

Both Everton and West Ham sit in the relegation zone after 19 games with 15 points apiece. And a win for either side on Saturday can hoist them out of the bottom three.

Despite leading the Hammers to the Europa League final last season, a loss to the Toffees could signal the end of Moyes’ reign at the London Stadium as the club have already been looking at potential replacements, the report added. It’s been claimed that Nuno Espirito Santo, Rafael Benitez and Sean Dyche are all on the Hammers’ list of short and long-term targets, although it’s thought the trio will only commit to the role until the season ends.

The Hammers are also said to be mulling over West Brom boss Carlos Corberan whose done wonders with the Championship side since taking over from Steve Bruce. However, the East London side would like to keep Moyes in position until the season finishes to steer the team clear of relegation before approaching other long-term targets.

But if the Hammers sack Moyes, it could open the door for him to replace Frank Lampard as Everton boss

Meanwhile, over at Goodison Park, Lampard’s faced intense scrutiny for Everton’s decline this season, but he’s still got the backing of owner Farhad Moshir who holds him in high regards for keeping the Toffees in the Premier League last season, the report concludes. Nevertheless, Moshir may be forced to let Lampard go if he can’t turn things around swiftly, following Everton’s run of just one win in their last 11 Prem games.

And if the Merseyside outfit are unable to convince Moyes to return to the club where he thrived as a boss for over a decade before his ill-fated switch to Manchester United in 2013, they’ve also got a keen eye on former player Wayne Rooney. The DC United head coach is the bookies’ favourite at evens to unseat Lampard at Goodison Park.
