BREAKING Horror as man crushed by falling urinal close to London’s Trafalgar Square

A man has been crushed by a falling urinal near London’s Trafalgar Square.

An air ambulance is understood to be on the scene at Cambridge Circus by the Palace Theatre on Shaftesbury Avenue just after 1pm on Friday, January 27.

Authorities say the workman has suffered “crush injuries” while working on a “telescopic urinal”.

The toilet is understood to be designed to sit below the pavement during the day and is brought up above ground level at night time in a bid to stop people from going to the toilet on streets and pavements.

Surrounding roads are understood to have been closed

The air ambulance is thought to have landed at nearby Trafalgar Square as astonished onlookers whipped out phones to film the unusual scene.

The Mirror reports that a number of roads have now been closed.

The Metropolitan Police said in a statement: “Police were called at around 13:10hrs on Friday, 27 January, to a seriously injured man at Cambridge Circus, W1.

“The man is thought to have sustained crush injuries while working on a ‘telescopic urinal’ at the location.

“LFB, LAS and London’s Air Ambulance are in attendance. Officers are assisting with road closures.”
