Dancing On Ice: Phillip Schofield confirms skate-off is AXED ‘for one week only’

Dancing On Ice: ‘There are NO second chances!’ Phillip Schofield confirms skate-off is AXED ‘for one week only’ as the celebrities battle it out in the Musicals special

Dancing On Ice‘s Phillip Schofield has confirmed that the dreaded skate-off has been scrapped this week.

It was previously said that bosses of the ITV dance contest were reportedly hoping that the huge formatting shake-up will ramp up the pressure on the celebrities.

And on Sunday’s show, the host warned that ‘there are no second chances’ for the celebrities as those with the lowest judges scores and viewer vote combined will go straight out of the competition.

It’s official! Dancing On Ice’s Phillip Schofield has confirmed that the dreaded skate-off has been scrapped this week

A source recently told The Sun of the news: ‘You might think there being no dreaded skate off would be a good thing, but actually it means the celebs have no safety net – there’ll be no saving of favourites, or forgiving a misstep.’

Meanwhile, Ekin-Su Culculoglu will dress as Maria von Trapp on Sunday’s Dancing On Ice after a risque see-through catsuit prompted more than 100 Ofcom complaints in the opening show a fortnight ago.

The Love Island winner, 28, will cover up as the character from the 1965 classic film The Sound of Music as she attempts to stay in the competition.

Ekin-Su will wear a blouse that comes up to her neck, with a bodice over the top which will ensure that little skin is seen.

It isn’t known whether she is teaming it with a short or long skirt but she will also hide her long brunette hair with a wig so she can emulate the movie nun’s blonde crop for her performance to the movie’s Do-Re-Mi as part of the musicals-themed show.

The Turkish beauty, who is dating fellow Love Island star Davide Sanclimenti, said of Sunday night’s outfit and routine: ‘Whoever you see in the performance, whether I’m playing Britney Spears or Maria from The Sound of Music, I will be that person.

‘With Britney, I was having fun with it, I couldn’t have performed it better in my opinion. I don’t regret it.

‘This time I’ll be playing a character from The Sound of Music and I’ll be how she is supposed to be.

‘People forget I’m an actress. If I was asked to play Henry VIII on ice, I’d do it.’

Her look is a stark contrast to two weeks ago when she left Dancing On Ice viewers stunned with a diamond-encrusted, nude body stocking which she wore to dance to Britney Spears hit song, Toxic.

As part of her routine, Ekin-Su was seen crawling along the ice alongside her dance partner Brendyn Hatfield which led to 112 compaints to television regulator Ofcom who insisted the catsuit was ‘too sexy’ to be worn before the watershed on a family show. The organisation has not yet decided whether they will investigate.

It comes after John Fashanu became the first star on the line-up to be eliminated from the ITV series last week.

After the five celebrities performed during week two, it was revealed John would face Ekin-Su in the skate off, with both couples performing new routines.

Judges Ashley Banjo, Oti Mabuse, Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean were all in agreement and voted for Ekin-Su to stay in the competition as she included ‘more technical skating in he routine’.
