Photographer spotted joining in wild celebrations after FA Cup upset and goes viral

Grimsby Town’s photographer was spotted joining in the players’ wild celebrations during their FA Cup fourth round tie.

The Mariners earned a replay in a back-and-forth clash away to Championship Luton Town on Saturday, with the two sides playing out an entertaining 2-2 draw. Grimsby’s Harry Clifton levelled the score in the second half, stabbing the ball past Ethan Horvath just a minute after Jordan Clark had put the hosts in front.

Clifton’s goal cued jubilant scenes in the away end as the players rushed to their fans to celebrate the equaliser, but it was the antics of the club cameraman that caught the eye.

Footage of the goal and subsequent celebrations shows the Grimsby photographer jumping in the air and pumping his fist next to the players. He can then be seen quickly composing himself to snap pictures of the celebrations.

The cameraman has been revealed as the club’s digital content creator Liam Emmerson, who reacted to the video on Twitter by writing: “Oh hell,” along with a crying emoji.

Grimsby Town’s equaliser caused raucous scenes in the away end

Grimsby had taken the lead during the first half through Gavan Hoolahan before Elijah Adebayo equalised from the spot, allowing Clark’s goal to put the Championship side in front.

However, Luton’s lead lasted less than a minute, as Clifton pulled Grimsby level almost immediately with what proved to be the final goal of the match.

Paul Hurst’s side, who are currently 16th in League Two, started the match 57 places below their opponents in the football pyramid. High-flying Luton sit seventh in the second tier as they chase a place in this season’s play-off.

Saturday’s draw means that the two sides will both be in Monday night’s draw for the fifth round ahead of their replay to determine who advances to the last 16.

A win in the reverse fixture will see Grimsby reach the fifth round for the first time since 1996, having already beaten Plymouth Argyle, Cambridge United and Burton Albion in this season’s competition.
